Qualcomm to integrate Snapdragon chipsets in Maruti-Suzuki cars

Modern cars seem to be becoming more like GADGETS.

Qualcomm is reportedly partnering with Maruti Suzuki India to integrate its line of next-generation Elite chipsets in future vehicles.

Smart vehicles equipped with advanced infotainment systems and driver-assistance features are becoming increasingly popular among Indian consumers. Qualcomm is tapping into this trend, expanding its chip solutions to cater to India’s automotive market.

Great processing power is the key to the future development of vehicles and mobility. Be it ADAS, HMI or self-driving thingy, faster processing is the foundation of these implementations. Being the most reputed processor maker for mobile devices worldwide, it's definitely a welcome move for futuristic cars from the Maruti stable.

re: Qualcomm to integrate Snapdragon chipsets in Maruti-Suzuki cars

There always used to be debates. Some Samsung mobiles ran on Snapdragon while some ran on Exynos. Ones running on Snapdragon had slight edge on performance.

Future debates will be "My car is better than yours because mine is running on a Snapdragon Processor"

Re: Qualcomm to integrate Snapdragon chipsets in Maruti-Suzuki cars

Interesting development, Qualcomm's automotive chips are powering higher end infotainment systems and are even powering necessary ADAS systems. As Suzuki is gearing up for a more "connected" future, the need for chipsets will boom.

On a sidenote, the Tesla Model S' in car controls is powered by AMD's RDNA chipsets. So, this isn't a new occurrence.

Re: Qualcomm to integrate Snapdragon chipsets in Maruti-Suzuki cars

Snapdragon chipsets are generally expensive and used in more premium devices - Most of the cheaper/value models run Mediatek Dimensity who also have automotive offerings. Interesting that Maruti, being traditionally a cost focussed company, has chosen to go with the former and not the latter.
