This makes XUV700 and Innova Hycross more VFM. Best luck for Kia

Heavy pricing, but this was expected as everyone knew the Carnival would be coming in as a CBU. Carnival sure has good brand image, but I'm not sure if it has such a powerful brand image to continue to sell in good numbers despite of such heavy pricing.
This type of royalty is only possible for Toyota IMO.

I think Kia is trying to compete with Nissan India in Who does the most absurd pricing contest.

Whatever the feature additions may be, a 30L price increase is lunacy. Well, we have the CBU product justification, don't we?

Good bye Kia Carnival. EV9 is not even a starter. Kia now thinks they are Maybach.

High price, no doubt but still half the price of Toyota's Vellfire

Re: 4th-gen Kia Carnival launched at Rs 63.90 lakh

Since the car is initially a CBU, the price is on the higher side, once it’s available as a CKD, it’ll be a fantastic value proposition!

The previous Generation Carnival owners will be looking for an upgrade and this is the perfect car for them!

Apart from the Kia badge, I don’t see how a E-Class is any better than this! With the electrically operated seats right till the ottomans and ventilated + heated 2nd row seats the Carnival is taking the fight right to the big daddy Toyota Vellfire. The Innova HyCross just can’t be compared with the Carnival.

At ₹64L ex-showroom the Carnival is in the same price bracket as something like a GLC, X3, Q5 and the likes. I know several people who had the Ford Endeavour 3.2L and were looking for an upgrade in the 65L ex-showroom budget preferably a 7 seater to replace it, ended up buying one of the 5 star German trio. The Carnival is the perfect upgrade for them.

Once the CKD version is launched this will be excellent VFM.

Tough choice on who would win the award for most absurd pricing - Skoda Superb vs. Nissan Xtrail vs. Kia Carnival. I get the factor on CBU, but then who would really buy them at those prices. Carnival might still have some buyers in the luxury fleet segment.

The early adopters, if at all any, will see themselves in a fix when Kia starts a higher discount or price cuts in near future.

Theoretically this is true, but very less practical probability for people to consider Kia alongside/equivalent of Benz/BMW/Audi
Majority of those looking for the big three aim specifically for the brand snob factor more than anything else.
The earlier generation carnival sold well, mainly because of its price. Its equipped exceptionally well, but its pricing was key. That usp is lost with this generation pricing.

Kia is smart - they know that a MUV/Van style is not a mass market product for India, and decided to move up and probably, move on, with the hope that the CBU will cater to the low volumes easily. Many businessmen are fans of the value that this MUV brings. They'll have an upgrade path too from the old gen Carnival, as the Vellfire is nowhere even close as a value proposition.

I can tell you this much. I know that atleast one car is headed to my university's parking lot to harbor the management honchos. So that's something.

High price. But they have the CBU coverup so that is something for them to be happy about. If this is an alternate to say.....the Vellfire. I can see this going big. But then again, it's a game of chances in the luxury segment, in lockout by the Germans.

Re: 4th-gen Kia Carnival launched at Rs 63.90 lakh

Carnival pricing seems to be on the higher side when compared to previous generations Will it be also sold as a CKD in future is something to be seen?
With CKD route prices coming down to 50 or below 50 which is what most buyers would want with this pricing of 64, it is nowhere near as value for money proposition as it was earlier.
It will give competition to many German entry-level, sedans and SUVs, this certainly is not a competition to Toyota Velfire as it is in a different league of itself, backed by Toyota brand value, which the carnival lacks.
Also, this makes the Innova Hycross look like a bargain especially the Zx and Zx(0) trims.

Thank you Kia, for for vacating the D2 segment space and providing loads of headroom for Toyota to rip us off.

Hope you are happy with whatever single digit sales we will give you in a calendar year.

They may give discounts down the road depending on the market response, but price cut when CBU becomes CKD? Doubtful.

Have seen only Landrover give fat price cuts when CBUs are locally assembled. Rest may give some token reduction of 2-5 lakhs when locally assembly starts.
