Citroen should now really advertise the heck out of this car, as it is the cheapest proper auto on sale today.

You have Nissan Magnite Geza CVT @9.84, Xuv 3X0 MX2 PRO AT @9.99, Renault RXT Opt Turbo CVT at 10.29 as few other proper AT options.

This is a fantastic machine to drive and feels very well-engineered. Just wish all the later-added features & this 6-speed AT were offered from day one. Big fan of the car (especially the fun-to-drive MT), but not of how it has been launched - link to my thread on the topic (Why it's important to offer the right engines + AT gearboxes + variants at the time of launch). Drip-feeding trims, variants, AT options rarely turns around a slow-selling product.

Would really be between this & the XUV3XO. The Magnite & Kiger feel very cost-cut in comparison, and feel the oldest of this bunch.

Now, the million dollar question.

When can we expect the Team BHP official review of the AT gearbox?

Our family might be in the market for a small auto hatchback by this year end or the beginning of next year. So far the only car under consideration is the Ignis Alpha AMT. Now that Citroen has proper AT with ex-showroom price under 10 lakh, it will become the primary contender provided the AT is well tuned.

They need to fix the safety aspect of this. The sort of person who would be interested in a Citroen would not ignore safety ratings. Citroen needs to understand that a typical Maruti or Hyundai customer will likely not cross shop with a Citroen.

Re: Citroen C3 Automatic prices revealed; starts at Rs 9.99 lakh

Only if they studied the market better, they would know how few states charge higher Road Taxes on cars above 10L. The car would become cheaper by ~50k on-road atleast if they priced everything below 10L. Now they would give atleast 30k discounts but the user will still have to pay higher taxes on ex-showroom amount.

With limited market presence, unsure how this would compete with MX2 Pro AT offered by Mahindra 3XO at 9.9L.

Any proper automatic however badly tunes will be daylight ahead of the crap amt gearboxes offered in maruti/ tata. It's basically a manual with an electric clutch. The aisin 6 speed auto is a proper torque converter automatic and will be smoother and much more powerful as it's a turbo.

I would buy this with my eyes closed especially over the ignis amt.

The base variant is unchanged even after the September update. Still 2 airbags, no ESC, lap belt and no ISOFIX. It cannot get a very high GNCAP/BNCAP rating until then.

Even some of the updated variants don't have ESC, while GNCAP requires ESC as a standalone option at least (for 4+ stars).

Re: Citroen C3 Automatic prices revealed; starts at Rs 9.99 lakh

What gives hope that Citroën won't exit like Peugeot:

1. The Hosur plant has an installed capacity to produce 300,000 engines and transmissions for export to all markets.

2. India is a manufacturing base. Citroën exports from India to Africa, ASEAN, Latin America, and some European markets.

3. In 2023, Papa Stellantis reported a profit of ₹700 crore according to Autocar.

4. Citroën’s export volumes have slightly surpassed domestic sales, showing promise in international markets.

The Bad:

1. Dealership visibility is declining: Every time I look at the map, existing showrooms are disappearing from the map, with no new ones replacing them despite news of expansion.
It feels like they’re selling cars in on a Thelaa, a "mobile wheel cart", moving around on the map.

2. They themselves don't care/ market the launch of their cars we have to go looking for them

Re: Citroen C3 Automatic prices revealed; starts at Rs 9.99 lakh

The C3 Automatic is ₹85,000 pricier than the MT, but that's still a steal considering other AT cars have a premium of over ₹1,00,000.

Largely agree. However, car buying decisions are not as simple. Fuel efficiency is a crucial factor for the typical Maruti customer.

Torque converter ATs are usually gas guzzlers, so there's a considerable impact on fuel efficiency as compared to the AMT cars.

Yes I do agree on that point and the C3 turbo manual petrol I have is no great shakes in the mileage department ( I think at best 10 km/l in city, but never checked it ). So auto will most probably be single digits.

So it's a question of what to live with for the next 5 or 10 years - a jerky low tech auto box city car with with good mileage or a smoother relaxing proper automatic that is equally at home on the city or highway ( turbo and 6 speeds) albeit poor mileage.

Having owned and sold both my AMTs within a span of else than 1 year due to the horrible driving experience ( new celerio amt and Tiago amt) , I would choose the later with my eyes closed. Not to mention the 6 airbags and bigger car.

Not sure why Citroen didn't launch the international facelift here. It's like they're always a little bit behind the curve in India and fixing that would make the car a much more attractive buy.
