Tata Motors has launched the updated Punch in India. The 2024 iteration of the Punch is priced at Rs 6.12 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai).



The 2024 Tata Punch is available in 10 variants – Pure, Pure (O), Adventure, Adventure Rhythm, Adventure S, Adventure+ S, Accomplished+, Accomplished+ S, Creative+ and Creative+ S.



The updated Punch comes with several new features, including a larger 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system. It has wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a wireless charger, rear AC vents and a USB Type-C charging port.



The new Punch is mechanically identical to the outgoing version. The B-SUV is offered with a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder petrol engine that produces 87 BHP @ 6,000 rpm and 115 Nm @ 3,150-3,350 rpm. The engine is mated to a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. It is also available with a factory-fitted CNG option.



The Tata Punch competes with the Hyundai Exter and Citroen C3 in the Indian market.

I think Tata will slowly progress this facelift into next gen by using the EV design.
They did the same with Safari as well. But all these additions were much needed.

I for one am very happy they didnt apply the LED strip design that is so prevalent on so many tata products - Honestly they should keep these to the EV's - they don't suit the "tough" looks needed for an SUV.

In the last couple of months, Punch sales were declining, and it dropped to the number 5 position last month. So, it needed something to boost itself back up.

Mechanically, the car remains the same as before, but it has received feature updates like a bigger touchscreen and a wireless charger.

It looks like Punch is ready to claim it's number 1 position again!

Wireless Android Auto & Apple Carplay, wireless charger on the entry-level hatchback from their stable - nice to see these updates from Tata.

But one thing that bothers me is that they are kind of repeating the same mistakes from yesteryear - keeping the design across the segments.
Back in the day, the Indica, Indigo, Bolt, Manza & Zest used to have the same look (at least at the front). Now, the Punch shares the look with Harrier & Safari, which are 2-3 segments above.

This still does not get the Fully digital cluster from Punch.EV I believe .

Punch should get the Diesel engine in Altroz tune. It will simply increase the volumes by 20%. However Altroz sales may decline somewhat with the move and that is what is preventing TATA from offering Diesel.

Even if Tata gets rid of the Altroz and focuses on the Punch completely by going all in and giving all engine and gearbox options on the Punch, it will do no harm, as Altroz volumes will be converted to Punch.

The model has indeed much potential. TATA should upscale the fit and finish and especially the after sales service, then definitely it would be a bargain.

Wonder why PUNCH doesn't have other engine options like DIESEL ?

It's not gonna happen though. Altroz will stay. The i20/baleno competition is always gonna keep people in the market. And if you still consider you get more space and a better overall ride in a hatchback than on a raised hatchback.

The quality and finish on the Altroz is miles ahead of what is seen on the Punch. I had gone with a friend of mine this weekend to check out the Punch. I was surprised by the quality of the in display show room cars.

There were gaps between the Pillar Trims and the Headliner in many places. The Headliners were soiled. The Door Panels were vibrating when car doors were opened. The Parcel Tray was already deformed. I will not even talk about the panel gaps. What surprised me most was that the display touch screen was all black and not working while all other electricals were OK. They actually took out the battery terminals and reconnected them and then the screen started working!! I know one should not make opinions based on one car but it was a Showroom Display Car in one of the biggest TATA dealerships in Delhi.

The Altroz in comparison was top notch.So, was the Nexon. It seems in their push for higher volumes, TATA is compromising on quality.

Though I'm happy to see these updates on this well packaged offering, still no Hill Hold?

The primary reason we chucked the Punch off our list was its lack of Hill Hold as my parents weren't comfortable without it being new to Automatics. It's a little surprising to see Tata not offer Hill hold in any of its small cars in the ICE line-up.

Hi, did you get a chance to check the Punch.EV variant? It looked like a proper premium car the last time I had a chance to check it out. Only thing lacking was the real A/C and now they have fixed it too

In fact I would say if anyone is in the market for a small car/hatchback, they should first check Punch.ev and then look at others - it gives a good glimpse of what can be packed into a small car

Ofc, panel gaps are a possibility (lottery) in all Tata cars
