Our SA just informed us that Kia has introduced a new trim called "Gravity" which could be based on the HTX or the HTX + variant. Kia hasn't updated the brochure or anything online yet though. Here a few additions:

1. Dash camera
2. Wireless charger
3. 10.25 inch cluster
4. EPB (hopefully auto hold too)
5. Ventilated front seats
6. Bose speakers
7. Indigo Pera interior color theme (similiar to the pre-FL X line interiors)
7. Dark gun metal matt paint (not sure if other exterior colors will be available)
8. 1.5 NA MT, IVT and 1.5 D MT engine transmissions will be available. No turbo petrol, 360 camera or ADAS though.

Seltos Gravity edition with IVT will be offered at 18,05,900 ex showroom which seems to be on a higher side given that it misses out on a quite a few features. No 360 camera, ADAS, electric seats etc.

It's so absurd that Kia doesn't want to offer IVT with all bells and whistles. Consumers are willing to spend extra, and this is where Creta SXO IVT at 18.7 lakh offers much more and becomes a better proposition. Another missed opportunity IMHO.

NA IVT at ₹18.05 may not attract lot of buyers and is again lost opportunity for sales. I don't know why Kia is pushing for Bose audio system across variants and increasing the price. If Kia launches this variant, it will attract very few buyers just like GTX+S variant and eventually get discontinued.

Newly launched GT variant offers much more by spending ₹95k more as compared to this new Gravity variant. GT variant gives
1. ADAS Level-2 with 14 features
2. 360 degree camera
3. Turbo petrol engine with DCT gearbox

The variant that would seal the deal for NA+IVT combination should have following features as per me
Mandatory features:
1. Ventilated seats
2. 360 degree camera
3. 8-way powered seat (because of additional under thigh adjustment provided by powered seat as compared to manual one)
Optional features:
4. ADAS Level-2 with 14 features
5. Adaptive Cruise Control

Agreed. This variant won't bring Kia many sales.

The NA IVT combo needs a better variant. Kia's failure to recognize this has been costing them many sales. Many consumers choose the Creta because it offers this combo on its top trim. For those with lower usage and who drive primarily within the city, this combo is just ideal.

They should frankly give interior colour options. The GT Line’s all black interior including the roof-liner makes it a drabby and claustrophobic place to be. The HTX+ has a far welcoming interior.

Kia is celebrating its 5th year of operations in India with the launch of the Gravity Editions of its Sonet, Seltos, and Carens models.



Let’s start with the Sonet. The new Gravity Edition of the compact SUV is available in three trims: 1.2L Petrol 5MT, 1.0L Petrol 6iMT, and 1.5L Diesel 6MT.

Positioned above the HTK+ trim, the Sonet Gravity trim is offered in Pearl White, Aurora Black Pearl, and Matte Graphite shades. It has white brake calipers, Indigo Pera Seats with Navy Stitching, a leather knob, spoiler, and 16-inch alloy wheels. Other features include a wireless phone charger, a dash cam, a front door armrest, 60:40 split seats, rear adjustable headrests, a rear centre armrest with cup holders, and the Gravity emblem.



The 2024 Seltos Gravity Edition is available in 1.5L Petrol MT, 1.5L Petrol iVT, and 1.5L Diesel 6MT variants. It is positioned above the HTX variant and offers additional features such as a dash cam, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats, a Bose speaker system, and an Electronic Parking Brake with auto-hold.

The Gravity trim also gets 17-inch machined wheels, a glossy black rear spoiler, body-coloured door handles, and an exclusive Gravity emblem. The SUV is available in three colours: Glacial White Pearl, Aurora Black Pearl, and Dark Gun Metal (Matte).



The 2024 Carens Gravity Edition is positioned above the Premium (O) trim and is equipped with a dash cam, a sunroof, leatherette seat upholstery, a D-cut leather steering wheel, leatherette door centre trims and armrests, LED map and room lamps, and the Gravity Emblem.

I am seriously lost. They keep introducing newer variants or changing feature distribution in existing variants while their dealers are struggling with clearing old inventory. Kia India needs a reality check, they need to offer discounts. If this is an attempt to boost sales, its clearly a bad one.

Instead of Gravity edition in Seltos, Kia should have offered HTX+ variant with 1.5 L Petrol 6MT and 1.5L Petrol IVT. These variants are serious miss in the Sletos lineup.

Hyundai does offer its NA engine with MT in all variants.

Another interesting thing to note is that HTK+ 1.2L 5MT, HTK+ 1.5LCRDi 6MT and X-Line 1.5LCRDi 6AT have been dropped from the pricing list.

So the only main distinguishing feature between a GTX and the Gravity edition is the lack of a 360-degree camera and an IVT setup instead of a DCT? It doesn't seem like a bad decision at all from a sales point of view. I know a few people who went with the HTX version simply because of the gearbox even though they knew they had to compromise on the features they wanted.
