Will update here after the ECM update has been installed.
Thank you for the response. I hope it's just a software issue, and nothing related to hardware which could be a lot more difficult to fix.

Please keep us posted when you receive the update .

Visit the service station asap and look for the root cause of the problem. If everything is fine, no worries then, even if the software seems to be showing a problem.

Hello Col Mehta, received the update today. Surprisingly ours was the only Facelifted Seltos at the camp. Update was done through their tablet by plugging into the OBD port. Observations after the ECU Flash:
  1. Steering feels lighter and more manoeuvrable. Earlier the steering was stiff (for me) and the EPS unit felt like the hydraulic unit on our Isuzu D-Max Pick-Up.
  2. The car picks up speed like butter now. Earlier when I would floor the gas pedal, all I'd get would be a loud engine sound and then very slow progress. Now, the car feels more sprightly and agile. I used to dread driving the Seltos and would rather take my XUV700, however now, after the update, the car finally has good acceleration and I feel like that 250Nm of torque is being put to good use. Performance seems similar to my Hyundai Creta (2018 Facelift - 1.6 Diesel).
  3. CEL didn't pop up as of yet but it's just been a few hours so will update and let you know as time progresses.

Thank you for the update . Really hope that you won't face any further issues.

Just out of curiosity though - did you always find the steering heavy and engine response dull (I mean from the day 1)?

Will look forward to reading more updates.

Yes, ever since day 1 of purchasing the car I felt that the steering was heavy for an EPS unit, like it had been artificially weighted so as to give it a, what car reviewers on YouTube call “sporty” feel. I even compared it with my Hyundai Creta which also has an EPS unit and the one on the Creta was lighter and felt more comfortable and manoeuvrable in city traffic. After the update, the steering feels much better. It might be a placebo effect as I didn’t check what all they updated other than the ECU since they requested me not to open the doors while they were updating, for fear of bricking the ECU.

Regarding the engine response, yes, I’ve always felt it was dull since the 1.5 diesel mill was almost the same as the 1.6 diesel on my Hyundai Creta (2018 Facelift). While the Creta felt smooth, and accelerated without a hitch, the Seltos had to be lugged around. Out on the highway as well, the performance always felt subpar. Will be taking it on the highway today so will update on that aspect as well though I’m hopeful it will perform well.

Re: Engine malfunction warning sign came up thrice in my 2024 Kia Seltos Diesel

Hello all, update to this thread. I did not face the issue at all again for a while.

However, I was recently driving to Bellary from Bengaluru and on the highway -there was quite a bit of rain- i drove to the rain like any cautious drover, staying away from the puddles etc.- but the same warning came up. The car honestly drove perfectly with no issue, this time when I checked on the Kia connect app there was no error. After two hours of this appearing the warning disappeared.

On the way back to Bengaluru the same thing happened, the warning came again (backroads with slight bumps and puddles but being driven normally) and then disappeared. I called my helpful service manager and he told me not to worry if it goes. My ownership of the car which is otherwise perfect is being affected. Is this a cause for concern? I don't think this is DPF related at all, as i put a good 900 km of driving on good roads and filing only Shell Diesel. Does this error come up because of any email error or trigger to the sensors? The car is heading for its 10k service soon, so wanted to know how to go about this, thanks!

Re: Engine malfunction warning sign came up thrice in my 2024 Kia Seltos Diesel

My colleague reported this at start of the week and dealership did some update and cleaned but this came back today again. They have called the car again on Monday to check thoroughly. They plan to replace the DPF filter after doing some more checks.

He drives mostly on highways, so don't understand why will this need replacement ? Anything to do with fuel?

I had owned a Seltos for 3 years and 30k kms. In my experience and of the others in the Seltos group, Shell diesel in Seltos tend to give DPF trouble, may be owing to the additives they use. Most of us switched to IOCL or BPCL back then. I could see some of them mentioning Shell at the start of this thread too.

Thanks, I checked, he uses fuel mostly from IOCL. A reputable outlet we have in Sector 28, Chandigarh.
