Re: Now we can check the entire service history of ANY car online for just Rs. 200!

I was looking out for something like this rather than visit the SC. The amount came up to Rs 235/- including taxes for my Xylo.

However, what was surprising was that the model was showing as with ABS while my vehicle isn't equipped with ABS.

On Cars24, there is another service called 'Check Vehicle Details' where you just key in the Regn no and the make/model/insurance validity/first-second owner etc details are shown. However, I noticed the owner name, engine and chassis numbers are masked alternatively.

I have tried for Nissan Magnite and report is very accurate. It shows all the visits to service center and also the list of spares replaced / work done during each visit.

Cost was 349 including tax.

I agree with a comment made earlier that it need only be shown by a site, where an owner has uploaded a listing of his car. Why should it be displayed to the general public the history of a car 'not for sale'?

Re: Now we can check the entire service history of ANY car online for just Rs. 200!

Based on my experience with buying used cars, this kind of service information has always been made available to me. Not at the click of a button, but certainly could be accessed and the same was facilitated by the seller. If the seller doesn’t facilitate such a request, then I have no interest in dealing with such a seller. It just takes an email from the owner to the ASS authorising them to share service history with me as I intend to buy the car.

The real risk in buying a car is when the car has been serviced/repaired outside ASS without any records. Or the car has changed many hands without official ownership change. There are enough smart people who will regularly get the oil service done at A.S.S but get the rest of the stuff done outside.

So a service like this makes it very convenient to do a preliminary check, especially if you are evaluating a lot of cars, but buying a used car is still a lot of hard work and intuition based as trust is a very rare commodity in our society. I give disproportionate importance to the person I am dealing with compared to the apparent condition of the product.

Have got some reports from Carinfo app and they were accurate, they seem to have reduced the prices now to Rs 189 and report will be downloadable by the next day there’s also an express delivery option for Rs 499 where the report will be available within 2 hrs if ordered during business hours, useful when checking out used cars.

Did you get the report? I paid 1200 for a report and got no form of confirmation of payment, no report and I'm not getting any response from the customer care. Seems like I've been scammed off the money.

Exactly the same case with me, paid app 1200 for the report and did not get anything. Looks like it is now a scam!

‘Only one careful owner. A little old lady who only drove it to church and back on Sundays’

Thats the old cliche.

I absolutely am with you on this comment.

Trust is a rare commodity and Honesty, Transparency, Kindness, Courtesy, Gentlemanliness and Decency etc are considered to be ‘weaknesses’ in this extremely ‘hustle oriented, opportunistic urban society in which we pass our days.

I too, prefer to choose carefully placing a very high value on the quality of people with whom I deal, more than anything else.

As an aside, it is also true that one can smile and smile and still be a villain to quote Shakespeare’s Hamlet. And ‘Eton’ like most other first class institutions, has also bred its share of Rogues.

Am a little late to this party but here goes...

In UAE ---
One can walk into any company authorized service center and using the VIN get a full download of all services done 'at the dealer network'. Will not be useful for cars serviced in road side mechs/FNGs.

In Nissan showroom I had to present my 'national card' so they keep that as a deterrent from misuse. Some showrooms do not care, they just take a print and give it and send you away immediately.

Edit - So my used car was a Rental or a Company owned for its sales staff kind of car. Only the 1&2 free services are seen in the UAE Nissan dealer website, no other record found. I purchased the car @ 207K Kms, no issues so far, nearly completed 10K kms.

At least in UAE, all accidents are recorded (ok, lets say 99%) are recorded in police records with pics and details. That is how I ensured my car was not in major accidents even though I knew at least 2 panels were resprayed and I could make out some over spray in some places but nothing alarming for a 12 year clunker.

If the query is around 'privacy' then it can be said One mans Coal mine is another mans Gold mine

Sensitive topic!

I did receive the report within few hours and it was sent over on Whatsapp. The report was accurate, but looked like someone had manually collated and put it together.

I paid way less then 1200. It was 235 for the report

Does it have all the detailed service record? I see that many such report only provide heads like general service for 10k or something like that, but doesn't specify what has been replaced or serviced

It is a good service, as it helps significantly when evaluating a pre owned car. However, if one has switched to a FNG, then that data point gets missed out

I made use of this service for a used car I was checking out. Very handy.
