Volkswagen is celebrating the festival of Onam with a special edition Taigun and Virtus. The Taigun and Virtus Onam Editions are priced from Rs 14.08 lakh and Rs 13.57 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.



The Onam Editions will be only available in Kerala and production will be limited to 100 units each. Both models have an all-black exterior and get additional features like front parking sensors, a dual-tone horn and puddle lamps.

The Taigun Onam Edition is based on the GT Line variant. It gets 17-inch ‘Cassino’ alloy wheels and an electric sunroof. The Virtus, on the other hand, is based on the Highline trim. Both cars get a 10-inch touchscreen, an 8-inch digital instrument cluster, ventilated front seats and automatic climate control.

The Taigun and Virtus Onam Editions are only available with the 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine. This engine produces 113 BHP and 178 Nm and is paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic.

This is similar to how a topper keeps asking dumb question to their teacher, so that the teacher thinks that he's the most attentive student in class. I know that VW isn't a topper by any chance, but this is the dumbest way to be in news.

Eagerly waiting for Diwali Edition with free-flow exhaust in November.

Requesting VW to also consider a christmas edition with 2L discount as a gift from Santa.

As a Keralite, all I have to say:

First of all, how hilariously cringy does 'VW Virtus Onam Edition' sound??! Speaking of sound, suddenly the Sound edition seems much better - atleast it was true to its name. It looks like a 2-year old is in charge of deciding names for Skoda-VW special editions. Coming to the car itself, how on Earth can a black car with some random accessories thrown in have any relation to Onam?!

I wouldn't be surprised if they start selling saree-clad Virtuses and mundu-clad Taiguns with banana chips as free 'accessories' next time.

As per my knowledge, Onam is celebrated as the beginning of the new year by people from Kerala. Why would you have a black car for the Onam edition launch? Apologies if there is any connection with Onam festivities, but black is generally avoided during festival celebrations.

Are they also planning to launch special edition cars for other festivals?

The reason for this edition is that one of VW/Skoda's key markets is Kerala
