Re: BHPian arrested because he drove his Force Gurkha on a flooded street | Delhi coaching class cas

Mod Note: Because the thread involves a BHPian, it has gotten unnecessarily hot. Debated enough, now closed.

Please "report" when there is an update on Manuuj. We will add it as a reply.

Thanks for the support & understanding

Re: BHPian arrested because he drove his Force Gurkha on a flooded street | EDIT: Granted bail

Judge has rapped the police for arresting Manuuj.

Quote:
The way the police were proceeding in the matter, it could have "fined the water, saying 'how dare it enter the coaching centre's basement'", said news agency PTI quoted a bench of acting chief Manmohan and justice Tushar Rao Gedela as saying

“You (police) have not even called a minion for questioning,” the bench said.

“Mercifully, you have not challaned the rainwater for entering into the basement. You would have said how dare the water enter the basement. You could have fined the water also, the way you arrested the SUV driver for driving his car there,” the bench further said.

Re: Asterix, my 2021 Force Gurkha | The adventure begins

Due to Manuuj's Bail Conditions and matter being Sub Judice, Manuuj cannot post anywhere or comment in any print or electronic media about this case.
As someone well conversant with the facts of the case I feel there is nothing wrong in me clearing some points for everybody.

1. He was not on a joyride. He was trying to help his accountants get to the metro station.
2. His accountants could not get off at the metro as it was inundated in knee deep water.
3. He decided to bring them back home till the water subsided.
4. The route he took was the direct route from metro station to his house.
5. He was in 1st gear and his speed was around 15 kmph and his accountants can attest to that fact.
6. When he entered the water it was knee deep but suddenly rose as the road dipped opposite the IAS institute and the water reached almost bonnet level.
7. He kept a steady 15 kmph in 1st gear and had no control over the speed of the wave.
8. He drove around as safely as possible around the cart at a steady 2000 rpm as he did not want water entering the tailpipe that was completely submerged underwater.
9. He did not know the gate was already broken and that the gate was being supported by two guys behind it.
10. He did not know about the existence of a basement.
11. He did not know about the existence of a second basement below the first one
12. He did not know there were students down below in the second basement.
13. The amount of water his car displaced can be seen returning back out to the road as noted by the Honourable Judge in the Sessions court.
14. Basement was inundated with sewage water also and not only rain water. The MCD commissioner has accepted in High court that the sewer line was damaged and storm drains were not working.
15. Manuuj is an innocent person whose only drove past the institute on a flooded road that went directly to his house less than 500 meters away. He had two other people in his car and was concerned for their safety also as some water was entering his vehicle as well.
16. Manuuj never has and does not own a dashcam.
17. The Honourable High Court has severely reprimanded the Delhi Police for their haste and over enthusiasm in the arrest of Manuuj.
18. The Delhi Police has dropped the charges of Culpable Homicide not amounting to murder against Manuuj.
19. He is deeply grateful for the love and support shown by the entire team-bhp community for him.

Thank you.
