Re: Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition launched at Rs 5.49 lakh

I will always be amazed at Maruti Suzuki customers who will put 8 lakhs on an Alto or Celerio over a mid level Ignis.
I could never justify the purchase especially since the Ignis has a smooth 4 cylinder engine, fog lamps and other amenities and is built slightly better than the Alto and Celerio inside and outside.

The Ignis will be phased out of the U.K. next year. I have a feeling the car's days are numbered in India as well. Expect some good discounts on this cute little car with better quality compared to the usual Marutis.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition launched at Rs 5.49 lakh

It looks like the Ignis is slowly being phased out, this may be the reason they are bringing in these special editions, the Ignis is one of the better cars in the segment but hasn't been updated in a long time, mostly due to its poor sales. So it looks like this is the end of the road for the quirky hatch.

Ignis will soon become a flop due to too much competition. I believe Ignis has much better build quality than conventional Maruti Suzuki cars and this car can easily score 4/5 stars in BNCAP crash test and is capable enough to sell more than 10k units/month.

Depends on how one decides "flop". Ignis still sells at an approximate 2500 units per month. This isn't considered "flop" by any means.

How is that possible? It got a 1 star rating by GNCAP in December 2022. Since then, the platform has been same, the structure has been same and even the sheet metal has not changed. How will it magically get 4/5 stars in BNCAP ?

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition launched at Rs 5.49 lakh

Ignis is such an underrated car. It is built better than WagonR; sharing its underpinning with Swift. It ought to have sold better than the numbers it is currently doing.

Maruti's poor marketing for this product, apathy towards updating it in the face of competition have contributed to its muted sales numbers. Whatever it is selling today, it is because people realize how value for money it is once they see the car. The product is definitely near the end of its lifecycle unless Maruti decides to do something drastic and update it.

Also, I'm not sure Maruti has anything planned as Ignis's replacement if they phase it out.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition launched at Rs 5.49 lakh

I am actually looking for cars with middle 3 point seat belts. Does Ignis has it?

As I read here:
Quote:
If the middle rear seat has a three-point (lap and diagonal) seat belt, this is the safest place to put a child restraint (unless the manufacturer's instructions say one of the other seats is better) because it is the furthest away from the sides of the car.

Re: Maruti Suzuki Ignis Radiance Edition launched at Rs 5.49 lakh

Suzuki needs a smaller Brezza to take on Punch/Exter but it isn't the current Ignis though. You take a look at these 3 cars side by side and the Ignis just looks absolutely ancient. This is the new entry-level segment for most buyers and Maruti hasn't got anything good in this segment. The Brezza is too big and costly and the Fronx just feels like a hatchback inside out. Its top variants come with a turbo engine only, and is certainly overpriced even when compared to the already overpriced Brezza. And it is as long as the Brezza too. They need something neutral looking soon in this segment or else they are going to lose market share.

Has anyone got more information on this, especially from the Dealer side? All the reports seem to indicate a reduction in Ex. Showroom price? That means a further reduction in the RTO charges, which sounds unbelievable. The Sales Rep I am talking to has simply no clue. All he keeps asking me is the color I wish to buy, as though I am shopping for a blouse bit.

.
I agree with you. My friend has a Ignis and he never tires praising his car. He always has a story about how his Ignis came tops in many of his long drives in difficult terrains and road conditions.

I have a neutral opinion about Ignis. While I appreciate it's peppiness and VFM factor, I am not a fan of the design. It's sort of square body and aesthetically un-appealing to me. I find the swift, DZire, Baleno more appealing due to their curvy body (not withstanding that they were sharing same 1.2 ltr NA 4 cyl engine (I am speaking of Gen3 Swift and Dzire). If Ignis hadn't had those sharp square body design language and instead was easy and soft on those square straight ridges, a little curvy butch look, perhaps I would have been interested. I remember & loved the VW Beetle for it's curves and quirky design (and they sold some millions of those in many decades).

If they could improve on the body shape, I could be in the market for the next Gen Ignis. But the present one doesn't appeal to me a bit.

Same issue with the Nexa SA I am dealing with. Nexa sales team don't have any idea about this one. SA promised to come back but nothing yet.

I hated the design when it was launched. It looked great from the front with the DRL's - it was just the rear portion which i had problem with. Felt it was too narrow at the rear and the rear tail light design felt out of place. Then again one day I saw an Ignis in a parking lot with a larger integrated spoiler and I felt it actually looks nice.
Ignis with and without spoiler is day and night difference.

Does Ignis Alpha have the UV cut galsses that most of the other Nexa models get? No mention of it on the brochure or online product pages.

Nope, Ignis and Ciaz are the only models without UV cut glasses in the Nexa lineup.
