Maruti Suzuki's Nexa retail channel completes 9 years in India

Maruti Suzuki’s Nexa retail channel is celebrating the completion of 9 years in India. 2.7 million vehicles have been sold through the premium retail channel, which was launched in 2015.

According to Maruti Suzuki, Nexa is one of the fastest-growing car retail brands in the country, accounting for 31.88% of its overall passenger vehicle sales.

In 2015, the Nexa line-up included the S-Cross and Baleno. The Ignis and Ciaz were introduced in 2017, followed by the XL6 in 2019.

In 2022, Maruti introduced the new Grand Vitara. A year later, three more models were added to the Nexa range – Fronx, Jimny and the Invicto.

Maruti Suzuki currently has 498 Nexa showrooms across 300+ cities.

Nexa has been great for Maruti overall, its premium line of dealerships has struck a chord with the market and the offerings have been great too, apart from a couple of cars which failed to take off.

Nexa was a gamechange move and saved Suzuki. Kia / Hyundai / Mahindra / TATA would have crushed Suzuki for the second time car owners / Base + 1 or 2 buyers if this upscaled experience was missing and Suzuki continued with the regular Maruti experience

I don't think Nexa plan came about so that Maruti could offer a premium buying experience. The real reason for two separate dealership brands is because you cannot display 17 car models on the shop floor. There simply is not enough physical space.

Premium models under Nexa brand came as a natural progression (step 2) of the above idea.
