What is it with the roofline, looks out of proportion and hideous. This reminds me of old Omni with added height
It will be a let down if the roof is not straight. I hope it is due to the camera angle.

The alloy design from side looks horrendous. Alloys are replaceable and so is the front grille. Overall stance looks decent and this can be considered poor man’s Rubicon
I believe there will be long queue of people waiting to grab this (like what Mahindra ads show) or Mahindra has already started to play mind games with the ads to make us believe there is already long queue of buyers waiting for 5-door.

There could be flood of 3 door Thars in seconds car market once 5-door deliveries commence.

For some reason, it doesn't look at intimidating as the 3 door Thar or the OG Wrangler. It could either be due to image quality or the odd angel, can't wait to see it in person !

I think this is just a pre production version and Mahindra is not going to launch a lifestyle off-roader with white seats and interiors. Just hope that the leg space and cargo space are more than what seems from the spy shots..

Wow! I was hoping good things for this, desi G-wagon et al.
Not any longer. The side view has utterly disgusted me.
That backside, downward sloping roofline is such a massive turn-off, it looks cruelly like a Gypsy from the 70s.
All plans to get this one are shelved as of now.

For slushy situations, touchwood the ESP modes have been enough to get is out of tricky situations but the car is mostly driven in an urban environment where the chassis stability & balance is much appreciated

Absolutely true , its just that I am not a fan of the body roll that comes with BOF vehicles. It just robs away my confidence.

Hope they give the option of darker color seats especially in the top variants, as I have seen many cars lately getting lighter color interiors only in the top variants, which doesn't make sense to me. With personal experience I can vouch that keeping those white seats clean is a pain and difficult task, especially if you have kids travelling in the car everyday. The darker shade colors inside anyways should gel much better with the kind of lifestyle vehicle and brand the Thar is..

After looking at what this has turned out to be, against what I was hoping it would turn out, I feel a Bolero Neo AWD version would have been better then this, and if wishes were horses I hope Tata would launch a Harrier AWD.

I just fail to understand the need for having a step in the roof line which makes the 2nd door look an inch above the front door. It looks like a cheap aftermarket modification. It will get masked in the darker body colors but will look horrendous in the lighter shades I feel.

The step I am talking about is marked in red in the image below.
