Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

I wonder what's to become of the Jimny after this launch? There's one area where the Thar cannot compete with the Jimny, that's ease of parking. :-)

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

Mahindra could have stayed with the original name of THAR and it did not need any suffix at all. I still feel people are going to refer it as THAR and eventually ROXX would be forgotten in couple of months.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

What a wannabe name ! I can imagine a certain section of buyers getting completely put off by this name and another section welcoming it with open arms ! The welcoming types are the ones who have “mah lyf; mah rulz and mah Thar Roxx” in their name/signature/car stickers

P.S : No Offence meant to anyone

Thar and Jimny have a significant non-overlapping customer base, so Jimny's (lacklustre) sales will continue status-quo.
A small clientile that wants to buy Jimny for its virtues (compact dimensions with 4x4, agility, efficiency (for a petrol) and longer term reliability) will continue to do so.

On a lighter note, Jimny customers may very well consider its fraternal twin aka., the Wagon-R if ease of parking is a key criteria

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

Just to add to the naming, could have been Thar Char (thar four!).

Would this impact the Scorpio sales since it gives even more tougher vibes than the scorpio? Ride quality will not be good but people value perception more.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

Don't understand this infatuation with having a separate name for the 5 door version.

Why can't we just accept that the Thar will be sold in two different forms?
3 door and 5 door.

Or is our public so dimwitted that they can't handle the fact that the same model name can refer to slightly different car proportions?

Ridiculous.

The HiLux would be your best bet, even the Fortuner. Parts availability would be a big problem if you are picking Mahindra. Having said that, people have completed Europe trips on the ScorpioN

Make no mistake, the Thar Roxx is capable of conquering any terrain all over the world but if you get stuck that could turn out to be an unpleasant experience

Here is an idea, the Range Rover Sport is available used from 11L onwards, 15L would get you a gem. Now that would be an ideal world conquerer

I'm curious why our friendly mod gannu is strangely silent on this topic. This should be the car to get his mojo back

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

Mahindra and their names! Just to stick to their superstition for name ending with O, they called it the XUV 3 double O, 5 double O, 7 double O and KUV 3 double O. And then the 3XO. And now this- ROXX! Why actually put in time and money to come up with names that are so confusing, difficult to spell or recall is beyond me!

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

I don’t know why Mahindra is not adding dual screen setup in Thar Roxx like the one in XUV 700 instead of separate screens( The best feature I love in XUV700 is the Dual Screen integration).

It gives a Desi G Wagon feel from Inside as well. I always wish for that whenever I travel in my cousin’s G wagon.

The A pillar, the windshield position and the feel is almost similar to G wagon.

Infact Mahindra should give all of its SUVs the dual screen setup like how Mercedes is giving in all models.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

Come to think of it. What is the need to even give it a different name? Jeep doesn't call its 4 door Wrangler with a different name, nor does Ford (for Bronco). Just give us simple 3 door/ 5 door config at the time of purchase.

Wouldn't that have been simpler while maintaining the incredible aura of the name Thar? Now with ROXX attached, it feels diluted.

Re: Mahindra Thar Roxx is the official name of the 5-door Thar

Stumbled upon this video of Thar Roxx on Youtube. The YT channel also makes a comparison with the 3-door Thar w.r.t the size of both cars.

Note: The video is in Hindi language.

I personally feel that the 5 door version would cannibalise the sales of the 3-door Thar by a huge margin along with making a slight dent in the ScorpioN sales figures too.

Mahindra going the Chinese way of naming things. What's next, Thar Electric as "Thar volt"?
