From the photos that have come out of the Basalt out on the streets, it looks quite cheap and shoddy. The Curvv - if it looks anything like the one they showed a few days back - will actually look very nice on the road.

Looks are subjective.

BUT, Citroen Basalt's proportions look nice as a coupe. Tata's attempt is like a mixture of a sedan on an SUV frame. It looks like an aftermarket attempt to increase ground clearance.

I voted for Citroen Basalt. Looks more proportionate. Tata Curvv somehow gives a aura of a really beefed up Indica Vista/Nexon but I am sure Tata Curvv will be more spacious being a Tata than Citroen Basalt (just my assumption)

I also have seen the basalt in and around chennai and it certainly looked more like a sedan rather than a suv coupe. It reminded me of a road presence of the honda Amaze with the boxy front and a slightly bigger rear part visually.

Curvv might look weird, not so proportionate for some. But TATA is consistently nailing the road presence in any category. Harrier vs XUV , Punch vs Exter, Nexon vs rivals etc. They always aim to make the cars look one segment above by visual cues.

After seeing the Curvv and Basalt in flesh, I think there will be willing to change their vote. If you get an option of change their vote, will you?

Coupe design needs to look sleek and Chick. I am not finding so much Basalt design so sleek. It has to many edges.

I voted for Curvv just now after looking at the real world shots. It's one hot looking one. The front though is getting boring now a days.

The teasers and leaked photos have made it clearer for now. The Curvv definitely More SUV, with a clean and fresh evolution of Tata’s New Gen Design language. On the other hand, the Basalt has a Sharper Edgy Sporty Sedan on stilts look.
We might change our views further on seeing both these in person.
But for now its Curvv the BEAUTY with its Porsche'ish and Lamborghini'ish looks.

One must comment how careless Citroen must have been to release their vehicle so close to Tata`s launch.

Still not seen the cars in flash but after looking at the walk arounds on YouTube, I’d still vote for Basalt. Basalt is more proportionate whereas Currv is trying hard to be a SUV coupe. The opinions are going to be divided based on what kind of design preferences one has.

Also, nothing careless in launching it along with Currv, rather its timed well. At least people will know there’s one more car in similar segment. A spaced out launch might have been forgotten quickly especially from a brand like Citroen.

Now if Citroen prices this below Tata which is very likely, some junta might visit the showroom to checkout.

If the poll was regarding just the looks, the Citroen Basalt wins hands down. Tata Curvv looks too polarising, the Tata Zest, a decade old car now, has much more pleasing design. In fact, I would categorize the Zest as nothing less than a crossover/coupe due to its high ground clearance.

Regarding sales, unless Citroen markets itself aggressively, there is no way public would be even aware of something called Basalt. Tata has sheer advantage in this regard.

The Basalt looks svelte, the Curvv looks badass. Take your pick from an aesthetic standpoint. I just wish Citroen had given it a more striking name. Basalt doesnt quite cut it for me, sounds like some industrial raw material.
