JLR recently unveiled Defender Octa, the most powerful version of the legendary SUV. It will make its public debut at the Goodwood Festival of Speed later this month.



In India, bookings for the new Defender Octa will open on July 31. The SUV is priced at Rs 2.65 crore, with the Edition One costing Rs 2.85 crore (ex-showroom).



The Defender Octa is based on the 5-door Defender 110 and is kitted out to take on the roughest terrains. It rides 29.94 mm higher than the standard Defender and is fitted with 33-inch Goodyear Advance all-terrain tyres, active dampers, 6D Dynamic chassis and 15.7-inch disc brakes at the front.

The SUV is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbocharged mild-hybrid V8 engine. It produces 626 BHP and up to 800 Nm and is paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.



The Defender Octa also features several cosmetic changes on the outside. It has different front and rear bumpers, a new grille, quad exhaust and carbon fibre trim. Inside, the SUV is equipped with performance seats with integrated headrests, Body & Soul Seat audio technology and more.

The tyres are 33-inchers. There is an option of 20- and 22-inch wheels, no bigger.

Land Rover Defender Octa launched at Rs 2.59 crore

The Land Rover Defender Octa has been launched in India. The premium SUV is available in two variants: Octa and Octa Edition One, priced at Rs 2.59 crore and Rs 2.79 crore (ex-showroom), respectively.



The Octa is a high-performance version of the Defender. It is based on the 5-door Defender 110 but has several unique design elements that make it stand out. It has wider wheel arches, different front and rear bumpers, a unique grille and quad exhausts.



Inside, the SUV is equipped with performance seats with integrated headrests. These are said to be 30% lighter than standard leather seats. The Edition One comes in a special Faroe Green exterior paint with carbon fibre trim.



Powering the Defender Octa is a BMW-sourced 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission and a mild-hybrid system. It delivers 626 BHP and up to 800 Nm in Dynamic Launch mode, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0-100 km/h in 4 seconds.



The Defender Octa comes equipped with 6D Dynamics suspension and variable semi-active dampers. Compared to the standard Defender, the Octa has a slightly taller ride height and thus has improved water-wading capability. The SUV rides on 33-inch Goodyear Advance all-terrain tyres and is fitted with 400 mm disc brakes paired with Brembo calipers.
