Curious to know what makes you say 2 litre petrol engine is underpowered?
I recently test drove this motor multiple times and came back very very impressed. The official review section also mentions the same as "The performance of this engine is strong with 187 BHP and 320 Nm on tap."

I meant in comparison to the size and weight of the car, considering it belongs in the full size SUV segment.
I'm used to torquey 6 cylinder diesels in my own vehicles, so maybe my opinion is a bit biased :)

The current Kodiaq is a bliss to drive. It pulls crazily to an extend that it's difficult to believe that all this is happening in such a big vehicle. At the same time, it's a comfortable cruiser as well.
Only negative is the poor mileage. But that is what it is. :)
If this is the case, then it will be DoA. However, I'd take this info with a little bit of salt, as the sales guy might have been trying to make his sale of the current model and so feeding unverified or incorrect information.

Ran into a gentleman who was wearing a Skoda t-shirt at the airport. Poor guy was minding his business and was gracious enough to respond to a rando who kept asking awkward questions :)
Car expected to launch in Oct, pre-bookings opening just before. It's an 'almost CBU', whatever that means. Pricing will be 'competitive'. Considering it's CBU, I think our worst fears on pricing might be coming true.
Oh well.
I don’t understand why car companies in India don’t announce product schedules and expected pricing in advance. In markets like the US, there’s a yearly schedule (even if there is only minor updates) for most cars and buyers know what to expect.
It’s not like Skoda is launching the next Pixel or iPhone flagship. The new car has been reviewed extensively in global markets, and their target market knows how to use Google. Let customers know that X car is coming by X time and we expect to price it in Z range.
The 2.0 TSI is being given 14 hp more power in the new generation (from 190 hp to 204 hp). Torque output is not yet announced, but I am pretty sure it will get a bump to at least 350 NM, as the current tune with 320NM is the lowest torque output of all direct injected turbocharged 2.0L.engines across the entire industry (including our very own Mahindra mStallion 2.0 which makes 380 NM). This new engine tjne has been slated for the new Octavia for Europe and will also be the one that will come to the new Kodiaq. This increase should give the new Kodiaq even more oomph to drive.
Full walk around of the new Kodiaq. Interior is absolutely stunning :loveit. I hope Skoda price it wisely.
New Skoda Kodiaq
Next-gen Skoda Kodiaq launch confirmed for FY2025. Will take the assembly route in SKD form.
New Kodiaq will continue to be offered with the same 190hp, 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine as the current model.

The 2.0-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 190hp and 320Nm peak torque, and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch auto feeding power to all four wheels.
The India-spec Kodiaq is expected to be offered with more or less same equipment as the model sold in Europe. A new 13-inch freestanding touchscreen takes the centre stage, controlling most of the vehicle’s functions. Also on offer will be a fully digital instrument cluster along with three new physical ‘smart dials’. The outer two rotary knobs, each housing a 32mm colour display, are used to adjust the full suite of climate controls for the driver and passengers, while the middle one can be configured to control the infotainment volume, driving modes, map zoom and air conditioning.

Skoda has confirmed that the current-gen model will continue to be on sale in India till the end of this year, followed by a 3-6 month break until the new model arrives.

This is such a terrible news, personally for me. I love the 1st gen, but didn't want to get an obsolete version when the new one is one sale. Mid-2025 is so far away, and they are not even considering newer engine options, I was really hoping for a Plug-in hybrid. :Frustrati
The only good take away from this ridiculous interview is that the 2nd gen Kodiaq will be a CKD, so hopefully the pricing stays sane.
Cheers,
AD.
Indeed. This is real bad timing. I was looking forward to retiring the octy and getting this one in October. Can't really wait till mid of next year. Now back to the drawing board I suppose.
Seems that Skoda guy was just telling me what I wanted to hear. LoL
Skoda is taking baby steps in india right now. With the dilemma of "over engineering", and the search for a local partner, I guess we as enthusiasts will have to wait and watch for them to make some proper bold moves in the market. Only then we'd see the latest models, come quicker and also at better prices.
The Superb back at Rs. 40l anyone?

Not sure if this gonna happen now, they might start working on India specific cars like Kushaq and Slavia.
