- 4X4 will be an EV model
- Will be ~ 4.3m long
- Engine could be of 1.6 4 cylinders (extension of thecurrent1.2 petrol engine)

Will be interesting to see whether Jeep brand will survive until then.

The leap motor would be an interesting twist and good competition to MG EVs

The reuse of old platform would not be a surprising news in 2024, most of the manufacturers are spawning new models by reusing cost effective platforms.
Look at Maruti themselves or even TAMO

Re: All-new Jeep coming to India in 2026, to slot in the Midsize SUV segment

The all-new Jeep's B segment will be the cheapest car and will be the Next Gen. Jeep Renegade with a completely reworked strategy, to the point that they promise an electric version for less than $25,000, or R$133,000 (Brazil)

A B-segment vehicle with a very low price and multiple powertrain options, to be using the Stellantis Smart Car platform.
There will be combustion-engined versions, possibly hybrids, which will cost even cheaper. And the secret to ensuring the low price may be to use the only compact platform on which Stellantis is currently developing new products: the CMP/e-CMP, used by the Citroën C3 and Aircross, Peugeot 208 and new 2008, Jeep Avenger, among others.

It supports B- and C-segment vehicles, hybrid engines and electric powertrains, with the latter being available with up to 400 km of range. That range estimate is likely in WLTP terms.
it is possible to expect that the new generation of the Jeep Renegade will make its debut in Brazil with the future mild hybrid version of the 1.0 Turbo engine, with the help of a 12V motor-generator and CVT automatic transmission with 7-speed transmission.

Re: All-new Jeep coming to India in 2026, to slot in the Midsize SUV segment

So basically a Jeep version of the C3 Aircross. Don't think the 1.6l four cylinder would come, it looks like one for the Brazilian market. Anyway this model better be priced super competitive as killing the Compass brand would bring a huge void to Jeeps image. (why am I getting flashbacks of Duster and Renault)

Selling Leapmotor vehicles under Jeep brand.... I really pray this becomes a harakiri moment for Jeep.

I wouldn't put it past the marketing gurus at Jeep to bring a smaller version and call it the Compass in India and then cry foul when sales doesn't happen. (mind you, I didn't use the word plummet or down - these indicate there is an initial higher number sold).

Re: All-new Jeep coming to India in 2026, to slot in the Midsize SUV segment

The international markets will get a Avenger 4xe with a hybrid setup making 136BHP power and a very capable car. Brazilian market will get the 1.6 litre petrol engine even capable of producing power upto 186 BHP for top trims.

We will get the same 3rd world treatment with just okayish engines, sub par build quality, pathetic crash test ratings, underwhelming interiors. If Jeep was serious, they should have launched Avenger and Renegade already by now. 2026 is another two years away and no clue if they will even be in the market till then.

Stellantis will make use of the 3-cylinder 1.2 litre engine in Citroen cars in India for all related products from related brands. This maybe a good engine with a chassis offering a sorted ride and handling. But what about people already in the 110-120BHP car owning bracket currently looking out for cars? Why would people again get one in the same power range rather than upgrade. A lot of folks are raving crazy about the 150+ BHP and 180+BHP petrol engines which are on offer from Skoda/Volkswagen and Mahindra respectively. Why is Jeep not even in this space? They had the famed TJet, MultiAir petrol engines and they didn't even bother to tweak them for BS6.2. They could have a lot of variants with the 1.4 litre and 1.6 litre engines across different price bands but they just gave a very over-priced Jeep Compass with declining levels of quality as is evident from the ownership threads.

If they are going to compete in the 15-20 lakh price segment against the likes of Creta, Harrier, Elevate, then they better bring in their 150BHP and 186 BHP engines with hybrid options and AWD or 4x4 capabilities with 4 or 5 star crash test ratings. We don't want 1.2 litre, 3 cylinder engine with 110BHP with just okayish interiors and 0 star crash safety rating. They can just exit the market else with only service centers for the years to come. This is coming from a Fiat Linea TJet owner hoping against hope that the Jeep Avenger/Renegade version here fulfils the above necessities to be competetive in this segment.

Stellantis: many new models by 2027.

The Stellantis group has unveiled a series of launches that will affect the different brands between now and 2026. Several novelties for Jeep and Fiat, with the new STLA and Smart Car platforms at the center of the projects.

As a present owner of a Jeep Compass, I'm disappointed with the plan the company has laid out.

Well they can certainly build the Compass on the C3 Aircross platform. That would give big cost advantage.

Aircross can be mass market and the Compass built on it could be Premium.

Possibly a 1.5 diesel can also be looked at.

No they cannot. The C Cubed platform doesn't support 4x4 for ICE and a Jeep Compass without 4x4(at least as an option) would just not have the Jeep DNA.

The next gen Compass was supposed to come on the STLA-M platform but Stellantis overshot the cost targets by almost 1.7 times. That resulted in the next gen Compass getting cancelled for India.

Therefore the decision to bring the new model on Citroen C Cubed platform, with the option to either use 4xe or go fully electric for AWD if they want 4x4 capabilities in this model. They actually have claimed it to be a global model, with the EV counterpart expected to be the cheapest Jeep offering (<25000USD) once it launches in 2026.

Re: All-new Jeep coming to India in 2026, to slot in the Midsize SUV segment

Jeep Renegade Powertrain possibilities:

The 1.2-litre, three-cylinder turbo-petrol used in the Citroen C3 and C3 Aircross models would be a logical fit but would be seen as underpowered for a ‘Jeep’. Also, since the Renegade is 4.2 metres long, it does not qualify as a ‘small car’ (to avail of the lower 28 percent GST), and hence, there is no cost benefit in using a sub-1.2 litre engine, which is also a pre-condition to meet the small car definition.

The next-gen Renegade will use the more sophisticated EP6DT 1.6-litre direct-injection turbo-petrol, which is part of the ‘Prince’ engine family developed jointly by BMW and PSA. The EP6DT engine comes with multiple power outputs, but it’s unclear which one Jeep will use. A 150hp unit is most likely, but there is also the possibility of a higher-spec 180hp version, which powers the petrol C5 Aircross and other Stellantis models in international markets.

Jeep Renegade electric 4x4:

A low-cost version is being developed based on Citroen’s Common Modular Platform (CMP), which underpins its C3 range of cars in India. It is not clear if this Citroen-based Jeep will be called the Renegade when it goes on sale in India.

Using a common platform will give both Jeep and Citroen brands favourable economies of scale, and this could drive down costs of key modules and components such as powertrain, E/E architecture and suspension items. In fact, the cost-benefit is what could allow Jeep to peg the starting price of its new SUV at around Rs 15 lakh. Sources said the E/E architecture, which controls all the electronics and on-board tech, is likely to be upgraded to support some key ADAS features, which are becoming mainstream in the fast-evolving Indian market.

Underpinning Citroen’s CMP, the new Renegade could finally be launched in the country. It would also effectively cover for the lack of the new-generation Compass, whose Indian launch plans have been shelved for now.

Well, Jeep anyways assembles Nexon in their plant, why not stick a Jeep grill on it and sell it to Indians?!

Its got the heft for a Jeep, diesel engine is already there and an AT gearbox is all they need from the mechanical side.
