Though I'm personally revolted by this car, the pricing is definitely a newsmaker. Undercuts the E Class by a solid 3L ex-showroom, which could potentially put the 5er just a tad bit below the 90L mark. A solid value proposition for those inclined towards this generation. The real question, though, still remains: Are BMW selling this one for a reduced profit or did Mercedes extremely overprice the E?

Good pricing. Compare it to the previous generation which costs 66 lakhs, the new gen has the following extra features and equipment at only a 10% price increase.

• Long Wheelbase and expanded Rear seat space
• ADAS features like ACC, lane keep assist etc.
• Illuminated Kidney Grille
• Bowers and Wilkins system.instead of Harman Kardon
• iDrive 8.5 and massive integrated screen
• Pano sunroof in place of regular sunroof
• Rear wireless charging
• Ventilated front seats
• Digital Key
• Increased power (252 to 258 bhp)
• Increased Torque (350 to 400 NM)
• 48V Mild Hybrid system
• Rear window heating
• Interaction bar
• Standard interior Camera and recording
• Crystalline glass for gear selector, iDrive controller etc.
• Tubeless tires instead of run flats (maybe appealing to some)

You do lose the roller sunblinds for the rear seats and the back window, Despite being a larger car, the new G68 LWB is 7% more fuel efficient (15.7 kmpl versus 14.82 kmpl for the G30 530i) and pollutes less (151 gm od CO2 per km versus 157 gm/km for the G30), thanks to the mild hybrid tech.

One surprising thing I saw in the press release is the point about the availability of up to 10 years of extended warranty available for purchase. That is really sweet news for German Luxury car buyers.

How I wish BMW India had offered the 540i trim of the G68 in Standard Wheelbase guise. Would have been a perfect executive sedan for the self-driven.

We've got so used to crazy pricing by the Germans, so this is a welcome change. I wish BMW would have gone a step further and priced this at 69/70L.

This would have put a lot of pressure on Mercedes, especially as they bring out the next variant of the E class. Mercedes has taken the E class price up from 65L to 95L on road over a few years, without meaningful changes to the car itself. They were rumored to be planning another major increase with the V214, without major changes (yet again).

BMW has already been very smart in building up the reliability of their cars. Now they're getting aggressive on pricing. I cannot wait for Mercedes to feel the pain, and offer better value to Indian customers.

Well done BMW! They have priced it keeping the market conditions and an aggressive approach to steal the crown from MBIL.

I’m glad MBIL is going to have to now reconsider its pricing on the E. They were expecting it to be closer to 90, now it’s a hope in hell. The arrogance of the luxury car market had to end that’s been long standing since Covid. I’m glad BMW has taken corrective measures.

Excellent pricing, during the pre launch event that I attended in Mumbai on 22nd June I overheard pricing around 79L figure.

I believe that BMW sensed the emotions around "inflated" prices pretty well. This + news of discounts on home grown SUVs (700, Safari) + magnitude of unsold inventory, forced them to price this sensibly.

Excellent spec and pricing.

However they've missed out on providing adaptive dampers, which was standard on the G30 in all trim levels.

I've said many times in my ownership thread of my G30 530d that the adaptive dampers are the best feature of the car, transforming the dynamics from being soft and cushy to stiff and ready to attack. They will be sorely missed here and I feel the focus on this 530Li will be too much on the comfort side to be much fun to drive at all.

No, Volvo doesn't have any models in the S-class/7-series/A8 segment. The S90 is a 5-series competitor.

Wow, great pricing, I believe this makes it most VFM Luxury Sedan, My 530i m-sport is no where near the features offered here. Specially ventilated seats, B&W system crystal gear selector, and may be panoramic sunroof. Feel like I should visit BMW showroom soon. I was expecting the price around 80-85L considering the features they are offering so we can curse them for the price.

I still don't get why one won't like if not love this design,
It's in your face, futuristic and just oozes class.
Even though its priced almost equal to the sporty M340i, one would definitely buy this over it, its a 5 after all.

To me, this looks the best among the A6, the new upcoming E and the dated Volvo.

Looks like BMW has cut down on quite a few features as compared to the E class to keep the price in check, stellar pricing still. With the new gen E class coming in, the gap between the 2 cars is set to only increase.

Just going by the assumption of how many more e classes we see on the road as compared to the 6 and 5 series combined, I think if mercedes just kits out the new E class well enough it will sell well, pricing then shouldn't be a major issue for them.

After I watched the ACI review, I realized they are missing out such basic & important things for any luxury car owner. Don't know how much extra it would have cost to add sun-blinds. Rear lights look ugly too.

Few things that would have made this car a worthy purchase:
- Sun Blinds;
- Reclinable Rear Seats;
- Heads Up Display;
- Adaptive Cruise Control;
- Physical AC & Volume Buttons (which are gone for good now).
