The Maruti Suzuki Fronx was the highest-selling Nexa model in April 2024. The carmaker sold 14,286 units of the Baleno-based crossover.



In FY2024, Maruti Suzuki sold 1,34,735 units of the Fronx. Add to that the 14,286 cars sold in April 2024, and the total reaches 1,49,021 units, just short of the 1.5 lakh unit mark.

Cumulative sales of the Fronx are expected to have crossed the milestone figure of 1.5 lakh units, 14 months after the car was launched in the Indian market.

The Fronx competes with the Hyundai Exter, Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Punch. It is available with two engine options - a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre turbo-petrol; and three transmission options – 5-speed manual, 5-speed AMT and 6-speed automatic.

Did not expect a 'hatchback on steroids' to sell more than the hatchback, it is based on. I was initially expecting this car will sell 5000-6000 units every month. I guess this car is attracting customers from its SUVish look. Also the most selling variant of Fronx is Delta+

The Fronx is quite a good looking vehicle by itself. It looks quite distinct from the Baleno and an average Joe cannot figure out what its based on. For them this is the "better looking" (subjective) "SUV".

Its only us enthusiasts that consider it a Baleno on stilts. For others it is probably the best looking Maruti product out there that also happens to be an "SUV" and is also quite comfortable and big enough for most customers.

As a car enthusiast, I love the Fronx and I believe it deserves all the success it is enjoying. Not only is it a competent package with potent powertrain options, capable suspension and noticeably more solid build quality but to my eyes it is also the first ever “SUV” with a sloping roofline that looks nice and proportionate. This is just the beginning, Taisor will add to the mix and will help Maruti build winners with Toyota.

Fronx is a clear crossover. No second thoughts about it, having said that it is a notch above baleno and even grand vitara. The panels and build quality feels a lot better than other maruti. It's the first maruti with proper return to centre steering and well sort out dynamics. I am not surprised why it is not selling more and canabilizing baleno sales. Interiors can be little more differentiating than baleno, it would probably have more success. One have to really drive one to know the vehicle.
