Surely Punch is canabilising Nexon sales. They are almost same car, specially in Petrol version. Moreover XUV3XO is also a big issue now. Though it's only first month after launch, yet it will definitely settle down to 7K-8K per month for sure.
Nexon needs a price cut and a panoramic sunroof soon.

Anyone looking for a compact SUV in the C2 segment, this is perhaps the right time to bargain (except the mighty Creta). The VW/Skoda are struggling, so are Honda, MG et al. Only the Grand Vitara, Scorpio (which doesnt look/feel like from the C2 segment though) and the Seltos are doing decent numbers in that segment. Kia, VW/Skoda have already started offering good cash discounts.

Such an interesting scenario - The Seltos, while has more features than the Creta, is not even doing 50% of what Creta is doing. And not that Kia cant do better numbers, it was selling way more than 6-7k before the FL Creta. A clear sign that variables such as better overall comfort, road presence, brand value and service network are more important than a few more features (the Seltos offers some great usable features though like better UV cut glasses, 5th passenger headrest, all illuminated buttons etc that the Creta sorely misses), but it's just so fascinating to see what Creta does ever so consistently despite short on a few features.

Interesting to see the Comet EV sell at 1000+ each month. Many folds more than Jimny, if you think of them as niche category vehicles. One thing common between these niche, low volume cars is that their buyers swear by them!

In a dying sedan segment, VAG twins are doing good numbers. Both Slavia and Virtus individually have done higher numbers than Verna, even after having lesser dealer network, negative sentiments about weaker AC and reliability and also being pricier. I strongly feel these VAG twins along with Verna deserve better numbers.
With the Slavia facelift, hope the numbers will slightly improve.

Compared to Tata Punch, Hyundai Exter is doing half the numbers. So is it a hit or a flop?

Punch's 1.2L makes ~86BHP while Nexon's turbo petrol 1.2L makes 113BHP. Moreover Punch has AMT while Nexon additionally gets the DCT(a.k.a DCA) as well in higher trims. How exactly are they same car in petrol version?

I guess these difference in sales numbers are more to do with the number of showrooms/service centers in small towns which Hyundai has managed to open in all these years. On the contrary, KIA is mostly restricted to Tier 1,2 and 3 cities.

For passenger cars, given that Maruti tops the chart with avg. 1.5L unit sales/month and 2nd spot by Hyundai with avg. 50k unit sales/month - is this correlated to the experience in service centers like high wait time, poor service quality? Is there any analysis available for coverage of service centers (no. of cars sold in a city / no. of service centers)?

Three key observations / trends

- Mahinda is knocking TATA and Hyundai, 2nd spot will go super competitive in next 6 month with all 3 aggressive in product strategy

- Its strange that the compact / pesudo SUVs have made Hyundai Hatchs irrelevant (i20, grand i10) but Suzuki is immune to that (Baleno, Swift despite Fronx, punch, exter launch)

- A segment will be dead, Kwid doing < 1000 numbers and Alto < 10K, this is a massive transformation happened over last 2 years in the Indian car product mix

I love the fact that how Mahindra 3xo is a flat 10k. I guess a lot of variables here which will definitely change assuming that not all 10k vehicles booked will be sold, could be a bit low here citing cancellations, maybe batch issues and so on?

I guess interms of the sheer delivery capability the Tata rabbit would anyday beat Mahindra tortoise.

More than 2 years now from the launch, both Slavia and Virtus are holding their numbers and selling more than the competition. Yes the 1L TSI versions are getting huge discounts but they have also increased prices by 2L since the launch.

Happy to see them selling good since they have lesser dealerships compared to say the mighty Hyundai. 6 Airbags as standard, special editions and the upcoming facelifts will help them retain the segment lead in this not so happening segment.

Honda seems to have shifted focus to export for Elevate otherwise these numbers are not good for a newly launched product. It sold less than Taigun this month which is more than 2 years old now.

I have yet to see a single C3 Aircross on road.

I'm aware of Nissan's poor financial situation but surely Renault are in a better place, right? So wheres the Triber and Kiger facelift? Also the fact they're squandering away their opportunity in 4.3 m crossover space is very disappointing.

ScorpioN is smash hit and with production ramping up, we might see higher dealer deliveries. With XUV3X0 launch and 5 door thar round the corner, only Mahindra can stop itself from climbing to number 2 position. It is a close fight between HMSIL, TaMO and Mahindra for the second spot. Good for consumers.

Few manufacturers are really struggling and Honda needs a management refresh to ensure they do not die out.
