According to a media report, Tata Motors is likely to introduce three new variants of the Altroz with new tech and safety features.



The report states that the Altroz will soon get a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system on the higher variants, while the lower trims will continue to be offered with the 7-inch head unit.

As far as safety features are concerned, the Altroz will reportedly get a 360-degree camera with a blind view monitor. This feature is likely to be offered from the XZ Lux trim onwards. Tata is also likely to offer 6 airbags on the top-spec 'XZ+ S Lux' variant of the hatchback.

The news comes as Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the Altroz Racer – a sporty version of the premium hatchback, in the Indian market. The report also states that going forward, leatherette seats will be exclusive to the Altroz Racer.

Besides the new features, the standard Altroz will remain mechanically unchanged. It will be available with the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engine options. That being said, the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine is expected to be offered on the Altroz Racer only.

They need to improve the rear seat by offering a longer sqwab. The under thigh support of the present one is seriously lacking for anyone above 5'8" which is a shame considering how well the suspension has been set up. Infact Tata Punch has lot more usable rear seat sqwab in comparison.

Why? It's not such an expensive feature that it needs to be exclusive to the Racer edition. They could have opted for different designs of leatherette seats for both the standard and Racer editions.

It's true. i-Turbo engine is exclusive to the Racer. Just like i20 N-Line getting turbo exclusively.

Tata should have offered 6 air-bags as a standard feature in all variants when it launched originally. It is a shame that even with the new 2024 update, it is being reserved for the top most variant.

Tata Altroz iTurbo & iCNG Dark variants to be discontinued

Tata Motors is set to launch the 2024 Altroz later this month. However, to make way for the Altroz Racer, the carmaker could make a few changes to the variant line-up.



According to a leaked brochure, iTurbo variants of the Altroz will be discontinued. Instead, the turbo-petrol engine will be exclusive to the Altroz Racer. The 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine produces 118 BHP and 170 Nm. In the Altroz Racer, this unit is likely to be paired with a 6-speed manual gearbox.



As per the document, the iCNG Dark Edition trim will also be axed. This variant comes with dual CNG tanks positioned below the cargo area. It is powered by the same 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder engine as the standard model and produces 76 BHP and 103 Nm in CNG mode.



Reports also suggest that higher variants of the Altroz will get features such as a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a 360-degree camera with blind view monitor and 6 airbags.
