MG Motor India has released a teaser of the 2024 Gloster. The SUV will be launched on June 5.



The teaser hints at a familiar design, which leads us to suspect that this could either be a minor update or a special edition. However, MG has also been testing the Gloster facelift in India. Spy images suggest that it will feature a new front fascia derived from the Maxus D90. It could get a large grille with vertically stacked headlamps and a continuous LED light bar.



The MG Gloster facelift is expected to be offered with the same set of engines as the outgoing version. These include a 2.0-litre diesel that puts out 161 BHP and 375 Nm and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel that makes 215 BHP and 480 nm. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission.

The updated Gloster will compete with the Toyota Fortuner, Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian in the Indian market.

This might be a new colour (I'm guessing it will be similar to the new THAR earth edition)


Might not be a facelift because the grill in the hourglass is similar to the grill on the existing car


The rumoured facelift has a very different grill (called maxus d90 max)


Maybe they will call this MG Gloster sandstorm edition.

I think they're trying to compensate because, other MG cars are getting the British racing green but Gloster isn't.

Design and bad driveability are the biggest concerns with this car. Design wise it's massive in dimensions, but somehow doesn't have that butch appearance. Hope they address it with the rumored facelift.

I saw the MG Gloster Facelift yesterday morning. I was in a hurry, so I couldn't take good pictures. However, I did manage to have a brief chat with the driver of the car while we were waiting at the signal. I noticed that it had a fully digital instrument cluster.

MG Gloster Storm Series launched at Rs 41.05 lakh

MG has launched the 'DesertStorm' and 'SnowStorm' editions of the Gloster in India at Rs 41,04,800 (ex-showroom).



The Gloster DesertStorm comes in a Deep Golden exterior colour with black highlights. It features a black grille, dark-themed ORVMs, Red Isle LED headlamps, Highlands Mist LED taillights, black door handles, roof rails, a spoiler and black alloy wheels with red brake calipers. It has a black-themed interior featuring a black steering wheel with white stitching.

The Gloster SnowStorm comes in a dual-tone exterior colour scheme of Pearl White and Black. It has headlamps with red inserts and front & rear bumpers highlighted in Pearl White with Red accents. The front grille, alloys, rear spoiler, door handles, ORVMs, window surround, fender and fog garnish are finished in black. The interior of the SnowStorm edition has a black theme with white stitching.



The Gloster DesertStorm comes in 6-seater and 7-seater configurations, while the SnowStorm is available only as a 7-seater. In terms of features, the SUVs get a dual panoramic sunroof, a 12-way power-adjustable driver seat with massage and ventilation functions and wireless charging.

Both variants are also equipped with ADAS which includes safety features like Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), Driver Open Warning (DOW), Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA), and Lane Change Assist (LCA).

Powering the Gloster is a 2.0-litre diesel engine that makes 161 BHP and 375 Nm and a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel that puts out 215 BHP and 480 Nm. Both engines are paired with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The SUV is available in both 4WD and 2WD configurations.

I don't think the Gloster comes with lane change assist (LCA).
If lane change assist means automatically switching lanes (when you turn the indicator on) by turning the steering wheel, it doesn't have that.

It has lane departure warning (LDW). It will notify you if you are moving out of your lane with beeps and warnings on the MID.

Instead of giving it new paint jobs, they should update the awful 360 degree camera system. The resolution is awful.

'Desert Storm' Edition looks cool just like the Thar Earth Edition. Meanwhile 'Snow Storm' looks similar to the 'Blackstorm' only difference being the white color instead of the black one.

My guess is that MG is trying to clear all the stocks of the current Gloster before they launch the facelifted version. Rather launching the limited editions, they can just cut the price of the Gloster by 2-3 Lakhs.

Can someone explain the reasoning here to me, I’m failing to understand the buyer market for this car?

If I was eyeing a gloster, I’d rather wait till the new version is announced.

Lane change assist (usually an indicator on/near the Side view mirror) warns you of vehicles/obstructions in your blind spot.


Lane Departure Warning / Lane Keeping Assist alerts you (my car steering vibrates) if you veer off the lane without indicating. The car assumes you're doing this unintentionally. In some vehicles with ADAS (Lane keep assist), the steering is auto-corrected to maintain the lane.
