Maruti to launch Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio Dream Editions

Maruti Suzuki is all set to launch the limited edition Dream Series of the Alto K10, S-Presso and Celerio on June 4. The cars will be priced from Rs 4.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings are now open.

The limited edition Dream Series will be available during the month of June, but depending on the customer response, Maruti could extend the sale of these models beyond a month.

The Dream edition will be available with the manual transmission versions of the Alto K10, S-Presso and Celerio. The cars get additional features, including an enhanced infotainment system.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing & Sales, Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, “At many places, the RTO registration charges change at Rs 5.00 lakh, so in order to take care of customers because affordability is an important point, we have strategically priced this limited edition at Rs 4.99 lakh. With this, we aim to meet the customer expectations in the segment.”

Re: Maruti to launch Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio Dream Editions

An "enhanced" touchscreen along with additional features? That's all? I want to 'scream' into Maruti's ears for this dreamy edition.

I have three theories as to why it is named 'Dream edition'. Either someone senior at Maruti had a terrible dream at night and bro decided to materialise his dream. Through cars. Ouch.

Or Maruti expects us to dream on about the potential features/upgrades the mentioned models will get.

Or they want people to go from 'dreading' their products to 'dreaming' about their products. If only that could ever happen though, sigh.

Right now Maruti is living in a dream. But when will they get to live their dream?!

We already have the Chinese asking us to build our dreams and the Japanese trying to show us the power of dreams. It seems Maruti has diligently followed their philosophies and has come up with the Dream itself .

Bye guys! Good night, sweep dreams!

Now that's a good question. I had assumed that they were talking about the Alto k10 dream edition starting at 4.99 lakhs, but news reports seems to mention that all three cars are available at 4.99 lakhs, which the company claims is done to help avoid higher RTO charges for vehicles above 5 lakhs.

Maybe they are taking the mid variants of the Alto and Spresso for ex-showrrom of 4.99 lakhs, while the base variant of Celerio could slide under 5 lakh mark by a cut of 30-40k rupees. Plonking an enhanced touchscreen system will help move Celerio inventory while it would help Alto, Spresso buyers from the hassle of changing the 2DIN normal music system. All while paying for less RTO charges.

Are the details released yet? I tried to check in the website in vain. All I see is this news everwhere but no further information.
P.S: I dont want to visit the dealer just to avoid his spam calls thereafter.

For Alto it's between Lxi and Vxi. For s-presso it's between standard and Lxi. However for Celerio it's undercutting the base variant by 37k. I find the such a bizzare way to price them all at 4.99 ex. For Celerio, it makes a lot of sense to go for this dream edition.

Re: Maruti to launch Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio Dream Editions

Looks to be dealer fitted accessory kit for the models.
Hope they endorse it in the Reg Certificate because if Form-20 does not reflect this kit, then it is not considered to be part of original equipment by the manufacturer.

So, if any one is retaining these cars for 15 years and has to renew his/her vehicle's Certificate of Fitness (CF as it is popularly known), at that time; then the respective RTO can actually penalise the owner for having "accessories not as part of standard equipment". Hope Maruti has done the necessary changes w.r.t the documentation part.

Celerio at this price looks like a very very VFM buy. An almost perfect car for my wife for commute: Beginner, prefers manual over automatic, decent visibility, parking camera !

Re: Maruti to launch Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio Dream Editions

No real value addition to each of the products if we consider the current discounts being offered (50 to 60k on K10 & S-Presso & around 35-40k on the Celerio) but the added 'accessories' will enhance the appeal of these products.

Maruti really needs to have a relook at the pricing of these entry level hatch-backs, case in pint being Wagon R - launched at a starting price of INR 4.19 lacs (Ex-showroom)in 2019, starting price has increased to INR 5.54 lacs (Ex-showroom) now, this is a hike of INR 1.35 lacs in 5 years which translates to a 33% hike over a period of 5 years. Yes, some features like '2 airbags' have become standard now & it has gone through a couple of emission norms' revision within this period but the increase in price is still atrocious considering automotive standards of price hikes.

Even Tata is riding the same wave with Tiago pricing, not really sure what is up with these small cars, is it really the new emission norms' impact or have the OEMs been trying to maximize profits due to the demand out-break in the last 2-3 years.

Though the name 'Dream' sounds cheap, IMO Celerio at 4.99L with the added features is VFM! It can be a good city car because the 1.0L engine with phenomenal fuel efficiency will keep the customers happy.

Add to this the omission of features that Maruti has been doing in the recent past. E.g.: Rear wiper - defogger removed from most of the variants of Wagon-R.

Maruti Suzuki Dream Series to be available till July end

According to Maruti Suzuki, footfalls at dealerships increased by 17% after the launch of the Dream Series. The carmaker has received 21,000 bookings for the special edition models so far.

Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer, Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki, said, “The response to the Dream Series has been quite encouraging, and we are going to extend it to July as well. We started Dream Series for the month of June, and it brought about a growth of 17 percent in footfalls.”

Banerjee added, “While there was some shrinkage that was happening in this core entry-level segment, we were able to register around 21,000 bookings last month. We are now also trying to work out special finance packages for these customers with various banks.”

Re: Maruti to launch Alto K10, S-Presso, Celerio Dream Editions

If the undisputed king of the segment - Maruti - has to offer music systems, reduce prices (not via discounts but on sticker) and yet hardly any of these (especially Alto and Celerio New) are visible on the roads - its a mathematical proof that the segment is on deathbed.

Its a bitter sweet statistic in a way. Relative to commuter bikes and scooters - these are actually still priced extremely competitively and offer a lot for the buck. True Japanese engineering marvels (on a budget). But then - seems that people are finally looking for some more safety and have more buying power now - to upgrade a step above from the 2 wheeler for their 1st car maybe.

I think given the increasing network of cross-country and faster than before highways - the country now needs a regulatory update that mandates a certain minimum PS output from a "passenger car". Our car buyers are not able to maintain different cars for highway and city usage due to economic constraints and the K10 powered cars with 4-5 people onboard - are ending up as nothing but 4 wheeled auto-rikshaws on access controlled highways.

This is true, I for one will miss the practicality these cars used to offer. The pleasure of driving an S-Presso on the small roads of Pune

I just wish these small cars retain their place but with electric powertrains.
