No

I own a Skoda Yeti it barely cools at even 38 degrees it is pathetic and for rear seat I have no words to describe it.

How can a big automobile brand like Skoda can't fix a simple AC issue that still exist in 2024.

My daily workhorse, a 2012 Ertiga has been struggling with cooling the car in these hot summers, with vents in both the rows, it takes 10 minutes to cool the car if it was parked in the shade. But if its parked in the sun, the AC just cannot cool the car, even with the highest blower with the lowest temperature. It manages to bring down the temperature which is bearable, but it does not cool in the scorching heat in Pune. Its white with cream interiors.

But my latest beast, the Safari Facelift cools like crazy. The Auto CC works wonders and cools the car within minutes. Along with the seat ventilation, it makes a very comfortable drive. Its a white dual tone model with white interiors.

Daily driving one of these three cars in near half century temperatures:
Ciaz
Tiago with a black roof and black interiors
City

All three have good aircons, I always use AUTO mode and at my favourite 27 or 28 Celsius. Very comfortable in all cars, after the initial waft of tandoori air is let out of a parked vehicle.

My cars and their AC performance

Punch 1.2, Storme 2.2 V400, Altroz 1.5D - Excellent

Celerio K10C - Below average

City : Chennai
Verna (2023) DCT.
I wanted to give a slightly accurate idea.
So when I went out with my dad, I parked my car in the open.

We came back after almost an hour. The car was quite hot. the temp gauge showed 39 C.

In about 3 minutes the car was back to being quite comfortable.
I had the temp set at 22C and the seat ventilation was on.

We recently drove from Hyderabad to Goa and back in the Fortuner, and the aircon did a wonderful job of keeping the cabin comfortable. The temperature was set to 24°C throughout the trip.

The Honda WRV does take several minutes to cool the cabin (again, to 24°C) and we have to bear with the loud sound of the blower until it eventually quietens down. Thereafter, it's pretty comfortable.

The aircon of the Nissan Sunny appears to have conked out and is in need of inspection. I havent been using the vehicle much this summer for this reason, but I'd rate the performance on par with that of the WRV w.r.t the aircon system.

Yes! Both our cars - the Altroz and the Ecosport have good auto A/Cs. They will cool down the cabin in no time. The Altroz especially needs to have the blower speed reduced after a few minutes because it gets chilly very soon. The Ecosport is also very good in this aspect, but the rear area takes some time to cool down because there are no rear A/C vents.

My Vista's AC is excellent but pales in comparison to that of the Safari, the AC of which is just fabulous. The Beat has a great AC when the AC works - unfortunately it requires repairs every year.

I have 2013 Swift Diesel vdi, which has an average AC, takes its time to cool the cabin, AC vents should be on your face otherwise you will start sweating. Yesterday I parked my car in Jaipur Junction's parking in 46°C temperature in the peak noon time without any shade for 1 hour, when I entered the car I felt like someone baking me inside a oven. Literally Our cities are boiling

My wagonr cools my hands (where the vents are located), all of my remaining body sweats. It is very irritating.

2015 Punto Evo 1.4 : very efficient AC unit.
Recently when Bangalore was burning, I had a bad luck with a Croma parking and had to park outside on the road for around an hour around 2 PM.

The car took maybe a couple of mins at full fan blast to bring the temps down (full auto mode). Even during my 2000*2 km home trips, I happily stick to 24 degrees almost all through KA - JH and back.

Rear passenger don't feel the chills, but have never complained about sweating or lack of air flow (the car has a dedicated rear AC unit, which helps).

2013 Fluidic Verna 1.6D (driven 1.4 lakh km): Good cooling, temp usually set at 21 degrees

2012 I20 Petrol 1.2 (driven 75k kms):Cooling at par with Verna

2017 Baleno Petrol (driven 30k kms): Excellent cooling, temp usually set at 26 degrees. Good AC combined with UV Cut glasses are probably the reason.

2019 X1 Diesel (driven 30k kms): Comparatively the weakest AC, temp usually set at 18-19 degrees. Panoramic sunroof with not so opaque cover was probably the culprit.

2023 Invicto (driven 9000 kms): Excellent cooling, temp usually set at 25 degrees.

Interesting idea for a thread. Voted yes for my current cars Honda BRV CVT and Verna Turbo petrol DCT

Based on my personal ownership experience of 9 cars till date, and extensively driving many others belonging to family and friends, predominantly in North India, where it's the hottest, I would say -
Strong AC performance - Japanese brands ( Maruti, Honda, Toyota) and Indian brands ( Mahindra, Tata)
Good AC performance - Koreans ( Hyundai and Kia) ( cooling effect with 26 degrees on BRV requires 24 degrees on Verna with an additional level on the blower)
Sub par to Average AC performance - German brands with BMW being average and the worst being my (then) Mercedes E Class. In the E Class, Increasing the blower speed only increase the sound, not the effect. The AC vents on side pillars and rear AC vents were extremely ineffective for the rear seats. So much so, my family always preferred the Corolla Altis ( no rear AC vents) to the E Class.

My 2 cars, with their cooling performance:
1) Tata Safari - AC is an absolute chiller, right till the third row. Diesels have strong ACs I believe.
2) Honda City - City's ac was good in the first row, but was lacking in 2nd row, as my car didn't had rear blowers.

From Pune with an Ignis, sadly the answer is no. The temperature has been crazy and the fan noise at 4 is crazy. The heat sometimes is very high and cannot be tamed by the system in Ignis.
