Maruti has made quite a few changes to the FronX lineup

-Delta(O) trim in MT and AMT versions
-Spare tyre has been replaced with Tubeless tyre repair kits.

This means 1.2 5MT/AGS Delta+(O) now comes with 6 Airbags ?
or
1.0 Turbo now comes in Delta+(O) variant with 6 airbags ?

6 Airbags is a welcome move but why remove the spare tyre (regular size metal wheel) and replace it with a Tubeless tyre repair kit. They should have also added rear camera in this new variant.

In March this year I went to Hariharapura and Sringeri in my Fronx. The next day I saw that my Fronx was tilted and I did not care much about then. On the third day when I removed the cover to clean the car, saw a 1 inch philips countersink head wood screw in the right rear tyre. Since the car was parked in the incline, I slowly reversed that car to a flat ground and replaced the painted alloy wheels to the spare full size metal wheel. Drove to the Tyre Professionals near my house got the puncture repaired.

What I am try to say is I am not familiar with the tubeless tyre repair kits and a spare tyre will be really helpful in remote places.

They made 1.2 AMT more desirable, and less desirable in under 1.2 seconds. Probably their shortest U-turn ever.

The audacity to make this statement! These bean counters in back-end aren't ashamed even a tiny bit, they have taken the consumers for granted.

Dear MS, the market has already spoken, a whopping majority don't want the booster jet. It's a niche product, it will always be, you know this too. Just expand the 1.2 lineup until Alpha and make it more affordable. You may even find me camping outside one of the NEXA outlets.

That's an unwelcome move for sure. How on earth a general layman will mitigate a tyre puncture issue when he could have easily jacked up the car and replaced the flat tyre with a spare one ?
MSIL can be forced to add the basic feature requirement when the customers start ditching the specific model and move on elsewhere.

This is shockingly insane move from the company.
I am still 50-50 on Jimny VS Thar still.
Hope this move doesn't apply to all their vehicles in near future.
I have changed my car's flat tyre twice in last 12 months as my tyre guy has given me strict instructions to never get a puncture repaired by anyone but him only if I am in town.

Tyre Repair Kit has been added in place of the Spare Tyre for added customer convenience
While adding 6 airbags is a welcome move, I fail to understand how replacing spare tyre with a repair kit is for added "customer convenience".

I recently had to use my spare tyre of all things and trust me; it was such a life saver. I was travelling with my family including a 2-year-old when my TPMS showed a reduced tyre pressure warning in the rear left tyre. I pulled over and upon inspection found metal shrapnel embedded (I probably unknowingly drove over an accident site). This happened in a remote area with barely any cell phone reception. Luckily, I was carrying my tyre inflator that day and topped-up air. I had to repeat this thrice until I found a lorry mechanic and got him to swap the punctured tyre with the spare. Luckily, my car came with a full-sized spare, which in itself is pretty rare these days. I was able to safely travel the remaining 250 odd kilometers and reached home. Now imagine having a side wall cut or a bigger puncture without a spare. "Customer convenience" is a nice way to sugar coat cost cutting.

Re: Maruti Fronx's new Delta+ (O) variant | Ditches spare tyre for a puncture repair kit

Maruti is one car manufacturer that can go to any lengths to cut costs. Then they have the nerve to say that elimination of the spare tyre and replacing it with a puncture repair kit, is for added convenience.
Whoever in the management, wearing a hat, approved this and didn't dismiss it outright as being absurd, is disconnected from the reality and is just an accountant. If numbers look good, do it.
Then jumps in the marketing people on how to unabashedly convey something so absurd in a way that people think it is for their own good. It just boggles my mind what the world has come to.

Agreed costs need to be controlled in an business entity but there has to be a line where they say, this cannot be done as it is a necessary inclusion. Oh well.

Re: Maruti Fronx's new Delta+ (O) variant | Ditches spare tyre for a puncture repair kit

Couple of years ago, my cousin took my car for a week and gave me his Apache 200. Next morning I tried to find the kick but it was not there, his battery was also not working and the bike failed to start with a starter. I booked a cab and went to office but that day I realized why Kick is important in bikes.

Just because something has an alternative does not mean it should be replaced completely.
I think Maruti would realize it after feedback from people and put that spare wheel back again.

Re: Maruti Fronx's new Delta+ (O) variant | Ditches spare tyre for a puncture repair kit

Last week, I was with a friend and his family scouting for a 7 seater MUV. We checked various options in the market and finally settled for Kia Carens 7 Seater.

When I opened the boot of Carens, I saw it had a spare tyre that was of smaller diameter, narrower width, and shallower tread. It was still satisfying to see the spare tyre and way better than a puncture repair kit. Some companies are offering the smaller diameter spare tyre which is still OK. Maruti should have known better.

Sorry for going off-topic. Which variant is this? I own a Prestige Plus from the first batch (manufactured Feb-2022). I always assumed the spare to be a 15-inch space saver (thanks to the confusing brochure) until I had a puncture. I realized that mine had a full-sized spare (205/65 R16 MRF Wanderer Street). Looking at your post, I am wondering if they silently downgraded it to a space saver.

My friend opted for Premium Optional. The one notch above the base model, Premium. I heard it's a new variant.
From what I heard from the marketing executive at the showroom during our conversation, all Kia Carens variants come with space saver tyres now.

This actually was started by Tata! The Punch EV, Tiago, and many other models do not come with a spare wheel. Heck many Tata cars don't even get a tow hook at the rear! So this apparently, is the doing of our own homegrown carmaker.

Anyway, it is sad to see Maruti following this trend! Hopefully they get negative customer feedback and reinstall the spare wheel!

Re: Maruti Fronx's new Delta+ (O) variant | Ditches spare tyre for a puncture repair kit

I was cursing Honda that they opted for the normal steel wheel with a smaller tire spec for the spare in place of a full sized alloy spare in the 2023 City facelift compared to the 2020 City. Thank my stars that if I had waited for a few months, these manufacturers would just hand me over a tire repair kit for my 'added convenience'.

Absolutely bad move and the statement 'for consumer convenience' is like rubbing salt on injury.

You don't even need to unmount your tire and repair it then & there only. That is the convenience

Good that you found someone. However, changing a flat tire is a skill that every driver should know as you never know when it gives up on you. Just like driving, one should learn it too. Glad that it all ended up smoothly for you.

Thanks.
