In fact, I would say M&M is the king in the rural, semi-urban consumer base i.e. At least rural side in North India. Villages are full of Bolero's, Scorpio, Thar, and earlier the XUV500 was a very big hit before it was discontinued. However, XUV700 doesn't appear so common as the XUV500 did. People I have seen who are spending 25L+, will then go for a Innova or Fortunner if budget permits.

So I won't be surprised if this MX variant becomes a hit with rural customers who would like the XUV700 badge, size, 7 seats and most importantly the prestige image at this price point, as the XUV700 is generally seen as a 20-25L car in social setting, apart from its utility ofcourse.

Actaually this MX variant is like getting the XUV700 at the XUV500 price point. so I personally find this as a brilliant move by M&M. Should work, I feel.
This is an interesting point. I haven't had a lot of exposure to rural areas personally, except for a few exploratory expeditions (to some ruins or archaeological site), but I have heard that the Bolero does exceptionally well there. Also, the police in my home state (Karnataka) use the new BS6 Boleros as the main patrol vehicle. I see them all the time on Bangalore roads. This car can perhaps cater to the law enforcement market too? I have seen expensive cars like the Innova and Fortuner in police livery, so it might make sense to include XUV700s too, I guess. Especially, at such a bargain price.

About the responses that highlighted the actual manufacturing output of these variants and their waiting periods- I remember being quoted 2 years to delivery for the AX variants and the dealer mentioned that MX variants have a much lower wait time of about 6-8 months.

Is there a reason why XUV700 is not being used by taxi/fleet owners. Its a well rounded product and pricing like this should be used by taxi/fleet owners to use these cars instead of still buying Innova Crysta!

At the risk of going OT, reliability is the one word. For eg, the Etios still is a hot fav among the cab drivers, so much that they are ready to purchase private cars and convert them to yellow plate. My known cab driver in Kerala who drives a Verito is trying to secure an Etios which is owned by a nationalised Bank, the car is being auctioned.

The newly launched Bolero Neo+ is likely the one taxi drivers will pefer over a stripped down XUV. It has the same engine (2.2 mHawk), but benefits from a more rugged BOF platform and can seat upto 9. Prices start at 11.39 lakhs versus the 14.99 lakh starting price point for MX 7 seater. A comparably equipped Neo+ P10, at 12.49 lakhs, is still more than 3 lakhs cheaper on road.

That is not correct in this context and in our country.

Indica and Ambassador were very popular cabs

Why a certain vehicle becomes a popular cab is very nuanced, there is also a question of what type of cab and where it is used.

Hindustan Trekker is still a popular cab - So if you are seeing only Etios, time to get out of town.

A walkaround video is already available. This looks like excellent value for money.

Both Indica and Ambassador, offered cheap entry into cab business for the vehicle owners.

Especially many buy them second hand then install the CNG Kit and use for commercial purposes.

its complicated, to say the least.

Re: Mahindra launches XUV700 7-seater in MX base variant at Rs. 15 lakh

XUV700 AX5 and lower variants price cut.

Last month, Mahindra reduced the prices of the XUV700 SUV by up to Rs. 2.2 lakh, applicable to the top-spec AX7 and AX7L variants. The carmaker has now cut the prices for a few more variants with immediate effect.

The Mahindra XUV700 AX5 Diesel AT 7S variant witnesses the most significant price cut of Rs. 70,000, taking the new price to Rs. 20.39 lakh. Similarly, the AX5 Petrol MT 7S, AX5 Petrol MT 7S with ESP, and AX5 Diesel MT 7S variants receive a uniform price revision of Rs. 50,000.

Additionally, the prices of the AX3 Diesel AT 7S and AX5 Diesel AT 5S variants in the XUV700 range have now been reduced by Rs. 20,000 each. The XUV700 range is currently priced between Rs. 13.99 lakh and Rs. 26.04 lakh (all prices, ex-showroom).

Re: Mahindra launches XUV700 7-seater in MX base variant at Rs. 15 lakh

More than the price cuts, XUV700 and Scorpio N needed 6 airbags and other safety features as standard. The only way to get all safety features in these vehicles is by going to top variants. Hyundai, Kia, VW, Skoda made 6 airbags standard, its time others too start offering these as standard. If I'm not wrong, the new swift also has these as standard.

AX5 variants received these price cuts when AX5 Select was launched and push start was added to regular AX5 variant around start of June. This is when all AX5 videos started to come out from all auto journalists saying it is VFM offering. Why would carwale showcase these price cuts now, unless AX5 variants sale have declined and AX5 is no longer coming out to be VFM variant after ₹2 lakh price cut on AX7 variants announced in July.
Mahindra still gains with these price cuts as some people who were looking at AX5 and can extend budget by ₹1.2 lakh can go for AX7 now.
To me AX5 is still a good variant from safety perspective, as it gets curtain air bags to provide some protection to people in all the 3 rows.

Mahindra should add following to showcase XUV700 as safe car in addition to its 5-star crash test rating
1) 6 airbags standard for all variants
2) ESC as standard for all variants. AX5 and lower variants have (E) ESC equipped variant which costs ₹50,000 more
3) 7 airbags for top variant AX7L as this was provided on cheaper XUV300 initially then taken away

Re: Mahindra launches XUV700 7-seater in MX base variant at Rs. 15 lakh

The XUV700 AX5 Select variant makes a lot of sense, but I really wish it had the all LED headlights from the AX5 variant, rather than the halogen Headlights from the AX3.

Everything thing else on this variant is perfect. Alloys can be easily fitted from Mahindra itself, but replacing the headlights is a big pain.

Also, I am not sure if the ultra high beam (High beam assist) which activates after 80 kmph, would work, even if the headlight is upgraded on this variant.

Here is a video of all the variants in 3D view, which clearly shows the only soar point of AX5 select variant.

Re: Mahindra launches XUV700 7-seater in MX base variant at Rs. 15 lakh

Seems there is another price cut on XUV700. AX7 L now costs 24,99,000 INR. As far as I remember it used to be 25+. Don't see any official new though by what margin it changed. And the big question why? Any new version in pipeline?
