This is what I'd like to know as well. In layman terms, is it going to be similar to Maruti/Toyota's offering of having both mild hybrid and strong hybrid powertrains? And are we going to see them in cars like Seltos/Creta/Carens?

My perfect combo for a compact SUV would be to have a Seltos with a mild hybrid based petrol engine paired with a torque converter. Currently only the Hyryder/Grand Vitara neodrive has this combo but their interiors and features are no match for the quality that Kia/Hyundai provides at that budget.

This would not only mean that we can see hyundai going green but also we can get more power on underpowered cars like the i20 petrol (Srsly the 1.2 kappa from the i10 ).

Re: Hyundai India to launch hybrid cars, SUVs by 2027

Hyundai Palisade debuts brand’s next-gen hybrid powertrain.

Made available with an all-new 2.5-litre turbo-petrol engine, this new hybrid system will also be offered on the next-gen Seltos.

The Palisade aside, Hyundai will be offering the new hybrid powertrain on a range of compact and large vehicles across both Hyundai and Kia brands. Further down the line, the powertrain will also make its way into Genesis’ luxury models.

Earlier this month, Kia confirmed a new hybrid powertrain for the next-gen Seltos SUV, and it is likely that it will be the aforementioned 1.6-litre turbo hybrid unit.
