So one more differentiating factor between 5 door Gurkha & 5 door Thar would be those 2 additional seats in the third row? As far as I remember, there is no third row of seats in Thar 5 door.

What's with that weird dashboard design and that steering wheel?

I mean it's fine we all know Gurkha won't set sales charts on fire like the Thar, but atleast they can offer something that is eye pleasing. Gurkha no doubt has that old school charm and you will always have some loyalists for that. The least Force can do is to honor their prospective customer with a pleasing design of the dashboard that the driver has to look at always, even if they continue to have those hard plastics.

Lot has already been said about the engine and I seriously have a problem with the mindset of FM, and not necessarily with the engine per se. You have 1 engine since the stone age, that too licensed/derived from the Merc engine and you will continue to just milk that in any product you have and not innovate ever. That's betraying your customer as a company. Atleast show the intent! But no, FM will give the same tune forever.

I have always admired the Gurkha, and while I own a Thar myself, Gurkha still has that old school (old defender like) image. I just hope the 5 door Gurkha does not look more like Toofan, rather than the 3 door Gurkha. Lets wait and watch now.

Fly in the ointment is the MB sourced, multiple decades old 2.6 liter engine which produces paltry 90+ hp and now for a 7 seater! Nothing will change when it comes to sales if this is the state of affairs in the drivetrain department. How about a 2 liter sourced from Fiat? How difficult? By saving some peanuts in the engine, basically, Force kills Gurkha at birth. Otherwise, Gurkha is a seriously a decent threat for Thar.

Found this video in YouTube posted 6 days ago. Looks like the 3 door version is getting both fixed and openable side windows as options.Also the FM executive is heard saying the launch will be On April 23rd. If so there is next to no buzz around such an important update for Force motors.The less same about their PR and Marketing team the better.

That's for the RPM. Indicator says a max of 5x1000. The numbers are misleading because of its positioning.

I hope it is priced well. Even the current one was priced a bit too high and certainly not a value for money product. It would start making sense if it's launched with the 140bhp FM 2.2 CR motor. I know it's a niche product and all. But ,Thar comprehensively defeats Gurkha in terms of vfm quotient, interior fit/finish and overall refinement. But the design of the Gurkha is so square jawed that it pales every other on the road. Apart from the G wagen ofcourse.

They are conducting media drives now for the New Gurkha 5 door and probably for the 3 door as well. Embargoes lift on 29th April Monday 12 PM.
