So far, no variant gets it as far as I know. I so wish they launch a version it for sure.

This is a great candidate for the AWD system in the compact SUV space IMHO. But if only wishes were horses...

Re: Mahindra Bolero Neo+ launched at Rs 11.39 lakh

The "twice lucky" model name could be Anand Mahindra inspired. Bolero Neo+ has two end of the name "o" + "o" 's and should bring them double (×2) sales vis-a-vis the Bolero that has a single "o".

I just want to add to your observations that an automatic gear option should also be there.

Actually they should change the company's name to MahindrO and MahindrO .

Re: Mahindra Bolero Neo+ launched at Rs 11.39 lakh

Looks more complete than the regular Neo especially from the sides. M&M should have atleast offered it with an MLD just like the Neo. If M&M could offer it in 4×4 in the future then it would be a hard to ignore package.

Re: Mahindra Bolero Neo+ launched at Rs 11.39 lakh

The crash test results are not at all impressive and very poor especially for child occupants. The side impact scores are lower than that for frontal impacts. Chest and footwell areas for the driver in the front cabin afford a poor safety. Overall score is ONE star as revealed by the GNCAP which makes it a very unsafe buy.

In these days of buyer awareness for safety catching up, older platforms need to be rested rather than OEM's sticking new model badges and relaunching them. Such rebirths are avoidable.

As already discussed in an earlier post here, the side facing rear, third row seats play spoilsport for good safety ratings. Incidentally as per existing laws, only front facing seats are required to be mandatorily fitted with seat belts, not side (this one + other Mahindras and some other brands) or rear facing seats (older Omnis).

Looking at the recently published GNCAP ratings, now I guess I wont ever want to touch this even with a barge pole. The way the A pillar and the roof simply crumbled isn't something I have seen for a long time. I am just wondering where Mahindra used up all that weight they have in the vehicle.

Re: Mahindra Bolero Neo+ launched at Rs 11.39 lakh

Do we have an official review for the Bolero Neo plus ?

A relative of mine in the rural belt of South TN is seriously considering it

His requirements are a vehicle that should be able to carry 7 to 10 people with reasonable amount of luggage (roof top carrier) occasionally on trips with extended family

He had a pre owned Tavera , and then a Sumo in the past 15 years and now has sold them both.

Initially he was looking at used cars , but pricing of used cars is totally bonkers:

1) 2019 Petrol Dzire VXI with approx 60k on the odo quoting for 7 lacs

2) 2018 Xylo with 70k on the odo at 9.20 lacs

3) 2019 TUV 300 plus with 50k on the odo 7 lacs - Suspect of major accident repair

4) Used Innova with less than 1.50 to 2 lacs on ODO and aged 8 to 11 years are quoting in the range of 10 to 12 lacs

He needs a vehicle that can take a lot of abuse and is still reasonably comfortable. Driving comfort is not a big concern.

His budget has been stretched from 8 lacs (used) to 14 lacs OTR (for new)

Only the Neo plus seems to suit his budget and use case

Does anyone have any idea of known issues or anything to watch out for?

Since it’s almost a year since launch , Mahindra should have ironed out any and all niggles hopefully

Prices quoted by you are too high. If he is ok, better pick one from Mumbai (any year is ok) or Delhi (2014 to 2016 model) and have it registered in TN again. Might just be a good option, if he is willing to go through the paperwork.

I dont think the Neo can take 10. The one that can could be something from the Force Cruiser family. The 9 seater can do 10 and still take the luggage.

He thought of getting a DL/NCR vehicle, but paying residual tax and paper work for the vehicle is dissuading him. Also possibility of being saddled with a flood/ accident damaged vehicle without any possibility of recourse post purchase made him drop the idea

Just search for Toyota Innova prices in Olx with location as Tirunelveli / Madurai to see the vast difference in diesel vehicle prices in North and South

RTO in that area doesn’t permit pvt regn for Trax Cruiser.

Also the normal use case for him will be 6 to 7 pax in long drives (500 kms one way) with associated luggage

10 pax scenario is for local / day trips (marriages and similar family events ) and at least 3 to 4 of the 10 people will be children under 12

9 seaters are cleared for personal registration - may be can try to register in a diff city.

Even if it is 3-4 kids, that is still 6-7 adults PLUS these kids. Not really comfortable, and the kids are going to grow.

Kids as in extended family/ relatives. Not permanent users of vehicle

Trax cruiser pricing is off his budget unfortunately. The leap from 8 to 14 is unfortunately the maximum he can do at the moment

Cruiser models OTR quoted is 17 lacs

Even with tough bargaining it may come down only to 16.75

Besides MM carries an aspirational value in that area

This is how people are evaluated by their cars in rural TN at least (Business/ Political background)

MM Bolero - Something might come out of this guy yet

MM Scorpio - He has potential

Innova - He is almost there

Fortuner - Made it in life

In such a case, I personally would buy two Boleros and drive them like a boss
