Re: Mercedes C 300 petrol to replace C 300d. EDIT: C 300 AMG Line launched at Rs. 69 lakh

This price is a bummer for sure. It feels like Mercedes is trying to close a portfolio gap rather than trying to be genuinely competitive. But I think Mercedes knows a thing or two that we don't. Looks like the C220d will remain the optimal choice for now in the C class range, which is ironic because that's what this C300 was aiming to correct in the first place.

Wow, that is 85L OTR, Bangalore, few hundred dollars north of 100K USD! That is 2x of what the same costs in US. For a few lakhs more one would get the GLC with similar power specs and SUV bragging rights or the detuned E class. Wondering who the target audience is, a few enthusiasts perhaps? Car prices in India do not make sense anymore to me!

They are expensive but I wouldn't blame the manufacturer for the cars costing 2x what they do abroad. Most of it is going towards taxes due to our extreme unequal distribution of wealth.

However, I can and I have blamed them for costing more than the competition.

FINALLY! I have been making a ruckus forever for German brands not including 360 degree cameras and ventilated seats in their Indian Spec models despite every other mainstream manufacturer offering them several segments down. I'm so happy they have added them. Now Mercedes has done it, everyone else will follow suit.

Might be an unpopular opinion but I don't really care much for a stretched 3 series. BMW has drastically increased the price over the years without even the excuse of introducing a new generation product.

Keyless entry, Ventilated seats and 360 degree cameras are way more useful to me than an extra 2 inches of legroom in the odd event I ride in the back + I feel the C class has a way more comfortable ride despite the lower ground clearance which is also rumoured to be fixed in this update.

The last recorded ex-showroom price of C300D was INR 62.70 Lacs. They have increased the prices by INR 6 lacs for the petrol version. Do the increased features really command such premium ?

On a different note, while the price of a Lamborghini Aventador is about 5 crore INR in the UK, its double the price in India due to import duties. CBU cars of any make are subject to insane taxation. This also brings to my mind the woefully underrated gem of a product from the Maruti stable, the Kizashi. The insane price was the death knell to a magnificent product.

Wonderful.
Mercedes will now start a price war, and the next thing you know, the M340i's price will be increased by 10 lakhs as they try to keep up with Benz.

Underpowered engines, prices that are way too high, not many features for the increase in price, and forcing its competitors to push prices skyward for an ENTRY LEVEL luxury car.
Good job, Mercedes-Benz.

German prices are getting ridiculous, especially Mercedes and BMW! 80 Lakhs On road for 'entry level' cars when compared to their international portfolio.

At this point is it fair to call Audi 'discount' luxury, when their products are the only ones that seem to make sense, price-wise? (eg. Q7 for 85 lac otr)

They'll keep raising prices and people will keep shelling put the big bucks for underpowered (for the price) vehicles banking majorly on the brand value.
