They should get rid of the Urban Cruiser tag ASAP. It sounds ridiculous. Toyota Taisor is just fine, whatever it signifies.

Even those standing there know already that there is nothing exciting about this vehicle.

Re: Toyota Taisor name trademarked in India; new mid-size MPV or Baleno Cross?

One one side the super rich and tech savvy Formula 1 has done away with the glitzy new year car launches. And on the other - we have Toyota actually organizing full-fledged launch events for THIS.

Maybe we are all missing it. The car has something extremely pioneering, never seen before in our market, and our market desperately needed this very unique piece of Japanese engineering, that even JDM does not get! Our market is so lucky to get so many extremely unique vehicles since last few years. Europe and North America should be so envious!

Oh no wait, well anyway.

Absolutely! Someone needs to use a Taser on them to finally make that Urban Cruiser tag go away.

OT: Here’s my U̶r̶b̶a̶n̶ Rural Cruiser HyRyder. Have done away with the badge.

Re: Toyota Taisor name trademarked in India; new mid-size MPV or Baleno Cross?

These re-badged Maruti Suzukis & Toyotas may not make sense for any car-enthusiast.

But Toyota has successfully pulled in non-car enthusiasts towards these re-badged models. Case in point being my mother, who from the exterior cosmetic differences felt the Rumion is different from an Ertiga. I took 15 mins to explain to her as to what’s going on with these Maruti Suzuki rebadged cars under the Toyota logo.

And this is exactly what is paying Toyota India dividends. With these badge-engineering vehicles they’ve successfully managed to move up from their 6th position to the 5th position in the monthly sales chart, overtaking Kia Motors. With the Taisor being added to their like-up, they’ve pretty much cemented their 5th position in the sales chart.

It may be a loss for us enthusiasts who want real ‘Toyota’ products, but it’s a win for Toyota without putting in much effort or money.

Toyota could have just named it Taisor instead of Urban Cruiser Taisor.

Very much agree with you. I mean just look at sales of Glanza. It's a rebadged Baleno but it sells constantly around 4k units per month.
Now that's just insane considering Altroz and i20 are barely doing 6k units even though they're much better.

Re: Toyota Urban Cruiser Taisor launched at Rs. 7.74 lakh

I liked this better than the Suzuki version. Even the name seems a lot better than Fronx.

Wonder why they don't bring back the original urban cruiser(Brezza rebadging). There is still a gap between Taisor and Hyryder which can be plugged with the Brezza rebadging. But I have a feeling it may never come since Toyota is using Urban Cruiser name now with all the compact SUVs. It may just be their way of consoling the original Urban Cruisers customers or protecting their resale value since that car got discontinued in just 3 years.
