Re: Scoop! Skoda Superb to be relaunched in India on April 3. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 54 lakh

Superb has lost its Charm this time, it used to be 85% A6 at 50% price and that was the USP. You want an A6 or E-Class but donot want to show off or let people know your wealth and still enjoy luxury, Superb was the way to go.

This product and this pricing cannot sustain, may be they will find 100 gullible or hard core skoda fans but this has no future in the long run. Why would someone not go for a C-Class / 3 Series at the same price. and If someone is willing to shell out 66L (onroad bangalore) for this then spending 85-90L (20L more) for E-class / 5 Series makes more sense.

Re: Scoop! Skoda Superb to be relaunched in India on April 3. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 54 lakh

I think this is an exercise to gain attention in the media and get people taking about Skoda, like it or not. There's no doubt anyone will buy it unless they get heavy discounts which takes prices back to original levels.

Has anyone gone to the showroom and enquired of one?

If this is not an advertising campaign of some sorts and they're really demanding this price, I'll get banned from here if I try to describe the management at Skoda.

Somewhat similar to what Dyson did with their weird air purifying headphones. Or maybe some of those weird concept cars they bring to the market but make only 5 units and with an astronomical price.
And it's probably working? TBHP, twitter and others are talking about how stupid this pricing is and how Skoda has lost it. Imagine them releasing the next Kodiaq or something like that at an attractive pricing and we shall feel vindicated!

Yes, it definitely works. But it works only to those niche and exquisite brands and products. Skoda is a slightly premium mass market brand in India. This approach, in fact, will backfire Skoda especially in their subsequent Kodiaq release as pricing 54L or more for the next gen Kodiaq is just as good as killing the brand and product itself. Comparison between say a Slavia and Superb (Kushaq vs Kodiaq), is it really worth 30-40L expensive?

As a practical experiment, I would want someone to walk in the showroom and have a discussion with the SA. I want to hear what golden words would the SA utter to convince a knowledgeable person to buy this "SUPERBly" priced vehicle over Mercedes/BMW/Audi. I wonder what kind of training would SA needs to undergo to sell this.

Re: Scoop! Skoda Superb to be relaunched in India on April 3. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 54 lakh

I feel incensed at how Skoda takes Indians at large, as non-car guys with this tomfoolery. Both words new and 2024 are misleading since this Superb is the 3rd generation (B8) originally launched in 2015/16 whereas the 4th generation B9 model is the true all-new one.
Even the shortlived launch of the Octavia in 2021 was the then-latest 4th generation model which had immediately dated the Superb's interior design.

Re: Scoop! Skoda Superb to be relaunched in India on April 3. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 54 lakh

I think more than anything this is a mental exercise for everyone to be prepared for Superb to land around ~55 odd lacs when the real 2024 Superb lands here later this year. Everyone and their grandma knows this will not sell for 55. Nobody will buy it and they'll eventually sell it off with huge discounts, 10-11 lacs easily. But the lasting effect would be the fact that it was launched at 55.
But the sheer nerve of Skoda to place it just 5-7 lacs off the german duo is too much to digest.

All things being equal, I'd still think about getting the real 2024 for 50-odd lacs because it has a brilliant cabin, fresh new design and clever skoda gimmicks.

A 4L discount will not cushion the blow to your pocket. A product which used to be sold at 32L cannot simply face a price hike of a whopping 22L after a year-long sabbatical.

VAG need to be more careful before their company is buried in the now infamous, international manufacturer cemetery. Pricing like this will put off (few) potential buyers. VAG needs to realize that those willing to spend this much money on cars are not interested in buying Skodas or Volkswagens.

The Superb was hailed as the entry-level German Sedan Killer when it used to sell at 32L, now however, a stale feature set and ludicrous price means Skoda have handed every incentive to buyers to spend just a few lakhs more to buy A4s or C-Classes.

Are my eyes fooling me? Or is it the case that the Superb at 54 lakhs doesn't even get a SUNROOF?

When all we enthusiasts wished for skoda to be more like Toyota, this is not we meant!

Unbelievable price hike, aren't automakers excepted from the heavy import tax for a limited number of units?

Skoda made a mockery of their prospective buyer sentiments.
With such an obnoxiously priced vehicle, which is already a generation older, plus was available at much lower price before being discontinued, I am not sure if Skoda will find enough takers for this particular vehicle.

Like other enthusiasts already mentioned, it will probably push the resale value of older Superbs higher.

I was evaluating this for my next purchase along with Kodiaq, thank god, i didn't take the decision to go for this and booked BYD SEAL in March (for added goodies if booked in March). Now I find SEAL more VFM and have no doubts on my decision

Ouch! That is a bad pricing. Maybe they got too carried away with their recent success.

Re: Scoop! Skoda Superb to be relaunched in India on April 3. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 54 lakh

Look at the dated interiors for a 60 plus Lakh vehicle. Looks more of a stock clearance from Skoda. Why on earth would someone even think of a Skoda at that price point and they are no Toyota to get away. There are quite few premium options available at this bracket and A4 looks value for money and cheaper than Superb. Those 100 units are specially imported only for Skoda fan boys, otherwise its a lame effort.

When someone asks me how rich do I wish to be? I have my answer now.

I want to be as rich as the person who will buy this car for 60+ lacs!

- This is a generation that has been discontinued & replaced globally, hence making Skoda India the 'recycle bin' of the Skoda Group worldwide. It reeks of disgust.

- Ironically, the Superb has a superior sibling now priced lower than itself, the Kodiaq!

- Skoda should have carried through with this launch on 1st April. At least then, half of the market wouldn't have believed it.

- In other news, we had gotten our Superb L&K for 33-lakhs on the road in Mumbai in 2021. Does anyone want to buy a 15,000 km example for 36 lakhs ? On a serious note, you can buy a 2021 in-warranty Superb L&K for 27 lakhs. Who on earth would pay 60 lakhs for an overpriced, 9 year old model???

Skoda, Simply DUMB act that the entire auto industry is laughing over. As a punishment, all the top guys of Skoda India who supported this decision should buy 1 CBU Superb each for 60-lakhs OTR from their own money.
GTO, EU brands send execs to IN as a punishment or when they see potential in an individual and they want him/her/them to prove themselves. This usually happens in cycles. Germans suck at identifying talent for leading the show in aspirational markets. It is usually a hit or a miss, and mostly a miss because they compare every aspirational market with China.

As an aside, this thread is already 7 pages long. Skoda, your products mean something to us. Stop pooping the bed and get your poop in line.

Re: Scoop! Skoda Superb to be relaunched in India on April 3. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 54 lakh

Feels like Skoda shunted Zac Hollis so they can go back to ill treating the Indian customers like they used to before he arrived.
Zac must have stonewalled some of these idiotic decisions for way too long considering the amount of stupid decisions the VW group has been upto here lately.

Saying no Polo/Fabia at first and then saying maybe to importing CBU Polo/Golf GTI. Saying they're discontinuing Octavia/Superb to relaunching the same model with doubled sticker price.
