Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

How are people concluding that X-Trail is not coming? 7 seater + alternative fuel points to the X-Trail hybrid (e-Power) IMO.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

To be honest, I dont want to see anymore plans this and that.

I want concrete actions and execution. CEO who was meant to turn the company around, what i see the reality is only “1” car been sold. (2.5k/month numbers tbh is not great to brag about) This dont give any sense confidence to be honest.

What are they doing to solve the after sales crisis (which is the major pain point for all nissan owners). No matter how many vehicles they launch if the word of mouth is bad regarding bad after sales it wont be a hit.(unless you launch with aggressive pricing)
Nissan please focus on after sales. Your existing customers are your best salesmen.

This is where they actually failed. Cars from the Japan, EU and US don't work here because of their sophisticated tech that don't have much demand as they were priced higher. That's why they clubbed Brazil, South Africa, India and Russia in a similar bracket according to their purchase power. They work around the same price ranges but have varying demands. Indians don't demand 4x4 like in Russia and SA but demand more ghizmos like touch screens. So they could produce vehicles by launching a low cost platform and customise features which they realised later. By that time damage was done.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

@ Mods- a serious question especially with respect to Nissan. How about we having discussion threads only after a new car is formally launched in India with prices ?
We have been discussing "potential" launches for far too long now. Else such issues be relegated to the International section so that they remain of academic interest only.
Let us commit our regular India based discussions to manufacturers who actually care about the Indian market and launch products accordingly.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

New Renault Duster, Nissan SUV India line-up to be petrol-only.

Both brands to share 1.0 and 1.3 turbo-petrols; no plans to bring back the K9K diesel.

Quote:
Renault-Nissan to bank on turbo-petrol engines initially
The entry-spec turbo engine, the HR10, is a 1.0-litre unit that powers the Kiger and Magnite, though it's likely that it will get a bump up in power for the bigger SUVs. The second engine option – the HR13 – is a 156hp 1.3-litre turbo-petrol (offered on the Mercedes-Benz A-Class sedan) that debuted on the Nissan Kicks before making its way to the previous-gen Renault Duster. This is expected to make a comeback in the Renault and Nissan midsize SUVs, and both engines would likely get a 6-speed manual and CVT gearbox options.

Entry level variants could get 1.5-litre NA, no diesel
The new Renault Duster and its Nissan counterpart could also get a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol for the base variants, but there are no plans to bring back the legendary K9K diesel. A hybrid powertrain is also being explored, although the cost of its development has not been factored into the project.

Scoop! More dope on Nissan & Renault CMF-B SUVs for India

Last month, Renault and Nissan announced their plans to launch four new SUVs in India. These include two models based on the localized version of the CMF-B platform. We have just received new information on Renault and Nissan’s upcoming SUVs.

Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India-gjqwxrowgaan3ls.jpg

According to sources, Renault-Nissan aims to make these crossovers look, feel and drive like vehicles from a segment above. It is said to be the most ambitious project the brands have ever undertaken in India, with the senior management personally overseeing the development.

Unlike the Kiger and Magnite, which share the same platform, but have totally different designs, most of the sheet metal will be shared among the new CMF-B SUVs to optimize economies of scale. However, soft parts like the bumpers, grille, etc. will be different to give them a distinct visual identity. Each car will boast unique interiors while incorporating shared components.

Renault-Nissan’s new CMF-B SUVs are likely to get two turbo-petrol engine options, with as many as four gearbox options at launch. The carmakers are also evaluating the possibility of launching a 4x4 variant at a later stage.

Renault and Nissan haven’t revealed the exact launch timeline for the upcoming models. 7-seater derivates of the SUVs could also be on the cards.

If they have to succeed with Duster, a diesel engine is a must.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

The most significant point to note is "no timeline", which means it can be expected in 2026 or later. Nissan has been creating this buzz of launching something or the other for the past 3 years. Nothing launched. The management was the worst in carrying the brand image.

So whatever is the model from Renault-Nissan and however good it is, by the time it is launched, the market and the competition will be at least 1-2 gens ahead. While also to note are the limited sales and service networks of both these brands.

Nothing exciting from Nissan/Renault as such for the past 3 years and the future also looks bleak.

Re: Renault and Nissan confirm four new SUVs for India

Nissan seems to survive only on making press announcements of impending launches, however none of these cars actually make it to the showrooms. They had announced 3 premium SUVs to be launched "shortly " at last year's Auto Expo, but none have been launched so far. Nissan dealerships are surviving with just one car on sale for many years now, the Magnite. I doubt they will launch the XTrail, Quashqai or any other premium offering in India. These cars just do not make any business sense to import or manufacture locally, as Nissan will not be able to command premium prices to justify the costs.

Nissan is seen as a cheap sub-10 lakh car maker in the eyes of the car buying public here in India, and to get them to pay nearly 50 lakhs for the XTrail or 35 lakhs for the Quashqai is impossible.
