Another Taigun variant and another price bump! It is touching 25 lacs on-road in Bangalore.

VW has added styles to the Taigun and Virtus lineup, there are now three more styles to choose from. Chrome Sport and GT Edge.

And Taigun GT Plus Sport gets a host of cosmetic enhancements inside and out, including crowd favourite these days a whole lot of black treatment.

For this VW was doing so much of teasers and build up. I was expecting a bump in power and some sportier suspension set up. Disappointing

I am not at all dissapointed because I had no such expectations

VW is known to launch new sticker jobs every now and then to try and keep their lineup fresh. They did exactly what they've been doing since years.

re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

VW India Management : we are worried about the Creat N line. They stole our thunder in the hatch segment with the i20 NLine. We escaped moving out of the segment entirely. We just got into this segment. We cannot move out without failing for at least 10 years.

VW India Product Strategy : Simple sir. We do what we did in the hatch segment. Another limited/ special edition with some smoking, blacking, piping and caliper painting. Someone is bound to buy this new version

Someone saner : perhaps given our history in rally nd motorsport we should put together some version that showcases our strength in performance. Afterall we have the Golf GTI variants globally with great cred.

VW Management: I like the new limited/special edition idea that is a tried and tested to fail approach. Let's go with that.

Drive on,
Shibu

re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

Taigun is a good product, and GT badges from VW are always special. But this is something unacceptable. Same engine with sticker work and some black painting, which every Tom, Dick, and Harry do, is something that is not acceptable from VW, even though they have tried that before and failed. This GT is definitely not adding value to their line-up.

It is a disgrace that VW is contended with sticker jobs. No wonder their strategy is reflecting in their sales. They are competing with Honda India in terms of poor commitment and failed product management. VW India management needs to be replaced.

This was pretty much expected after the Skoda Slavia Style edition; afterall Skoda is heading VW 2.0 in India. This is third world country treatment at a different level altogether. I feel sorry for people who fell for the hype and were actually expecting something big from the VW stable.

re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

So, what's sport about the Virtus GT Edge (??) Sport? Have they added a 360 camera? Please.

Also, the trim levels are going mad, what next Virtus/Taigun GT plus edge minus sport pro max?

As a VW owner and who really wants to buy another VW stable car next, I am running out of reasons to stick to the brand offerings.

re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

I expected Panoramic roof (export variants get them from Day 1, Indians love it, usage nothwithstanding), 18 inch wheels (la Creta, Seltos), ADAS (la all rivals barring Suzuki twins), e brake (almost all rivals get them), segment hygiene features like 360 cameras, real ambient lights, rear sunshades, driving modes, air purifier and many more! Both VW twins look hopelessly outdated and something from mid 2015-16s and it even manages to make the dated Honda Elevate look fresh (it outsells Taigun or Kushaq by 3 - 4 times monthly).

No wonder, this company will forever be 1500 units pm for any models company here in India. Such a great instutition of a car maker but battered badly by poor managment since the time immemorial. Food for thought: Both Chevy and Ford were selling more cars than VAG India when they left Indian market.

All this in a model year update?

You must be new to VW India
