Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

Rather than variants or special editions, these are more like additional trim options.

You can choose between the following:

Car: Virtus / Taigun
Engine: TSI: 1.0 TSI / GT: 1.5 TSI
Variant: TSI: Comfortline, Highline, Topline / GT: GT, GT Plus
Transmission: TSI: Manual, Torque Converter / GT: Manual, DSG
Edition: Standard / Edge
Paint: Standard: Red, Yellow, White, Silver, Grey, Bright Blue, Dark Blue / Edge: Matte Grey, Black Pearl
Trim: TSI: Chrome, GT Line Sport / GT: Chrome, GT Plus Sport

VW is basically offering the ability to configure the different aspects of our car from the factory like most brands offer abroad.

Instead of offering this through an online configurator, they’ve structured it across a vast set of confusing variants.

FY-end 'use it or lose it' marketing budget spending. The sticker jobs are an excuse.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

Keeping aside the quality of VW "India" cars, I think from VW s point of view, they do have a car which is much more "interesting" / sportier to drive than Creta. Only thing missing is the "Sport" look, which is why they went ahead with the black treatment. Creta N Line is aimed at the people going for Taigun to get that fun to drive car. VW is afraid of the loss of sales to N line hence these cosmetic upgrades.

Seltos has a sportier setup compared to Creta and they have an X line which is again only a cosmetic redo.

So from a business point of view, these variants make sense.

Thinking back the old Polo had good enough numbers prior to stopping which was mainly due to its fun to drive quotient.

There should be extra penalties added to the VAG group CAFE contributions for making people drive to attend this joke of an event.

If we observe the specs, it is just a cosmetic upgrade. Not even a single feature addition or upgrade.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

Well, they milked the Polo and Vento dry for many years. So, I expect that they will follow the same strategy for these two cars as well before they become obsolete in a few years. The Virtus is good though - I loved it when I sat in the showroom. I wonder why they can't bring a real "Power" edition - plonk the 2.0TSI engine with the DSG gearbox and they will be good to go with the "actual extra" power! Sad state of affairs, I love the Virtus as a car. Both these models deserved something better rather than cosmetic changes and sticker jobs!

Sigh! Some car companies never learn in India!

Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

This reminds me of the ridiculous special editions that used to come on the Polos and the Ventos e.g. IPL Edition. At least back in the day when the launched the Polo GT it got a better engine and an automatic gearbox, this has nothing new apart from maybe the paint scheme.

Given the calibre of this brand, this is a disgrace. Was expecting some changes from Mr. Ashish Gupta but seems like they have gone the same old way.

They have presented as if they have put a lot of thoughts behind these so called Joke editions.

What is wrong with the product planners in VW? They don't seem to be worried about lack of features in their product and in-fact sticker job is what they are coming up with!! Pity these guys!!!

Anyone shopping for Taigun will be super confused.. with XX XX edition!!

And most importantly!! creating a buzz in the media and spending money as if its an all new car!! common jokers!! it has been around 2 years now..

Pasting couple of stickers and coloring some parts Red makes a car sporty? The designers should get a refresher training maybe from the Italians.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

What ever said and done with these black elements and sportier visual touches the GT line variant looks really cool. Both Taigun and Virtus are the best looking cars in the segment for me and these updates makes it more yummier. The only thing I hated in the standard variants were the chrome and this is addressed too, so no need of after market de-chroming. And yes I would choose black interiors anytime.
If I am in the market with a budget of 30 lakhs I would for Virtus GT Line, eyes closed.

Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

The Taigun and Virtus GT Plus Sport variants offer enthusiasts another round of cosmetic enhancements, prioritizing aesthetics over performance. Owners, myself included, appreciate that these updates don't leave us feeling like we've missed out on significant performance boosts.

Not gonna lie but the interior and GT badge look good, maybe we can buy those parts separately. Hoping Skoda delivers on the Slavia RS with some serious performance upgrades. Can't wait to see what they have in store!

Re: Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants

Could we atleast get better looking alloys for the virtus?

The Brazilian market Virtus gets so much more:
Sleeker DRLs
larger alloys
It even gets a front lip and side skirts !
Volkswagen Taigun & Virtus GT Plus Sport variants-virtus_brazil_3_1675947517620.jpg
Even the dashboard has a soft touch finish and the seats have this cool diamond pattern. The interior has a sporty all black theme, unlike the wierd beight/black combo we have here
