Re: Skoda Slavia Style Edition : A Close Look

This is the most groundbreaking launch of 2024.
Just yesterday I thanked Mahindra for not naming this the Thar Thar Edition, and here we have this

Imagine this conversation:

Person: Hi buddy! I bought a new car!
Buddy: Congrats! Which one?
Person: Skoda Slavia Style Style Edition.
Buddy: What?!

Honestly, why bother with this "special edition"?

The exposed wiring isn't welcome though.

Re: Skoda Slavia Style Edition : A Close Look

Thanks Skoda / VW for staying true to our tradition of editions. I was worried that this unique skill will be lost as part of the India 2.0 strategy. Glad it is retained.

Basically charging 30K more to recover the charges of the "launch event" of the edition from customers as much as possible, without actually adding anything worthy of the tag. Of course this is just my personal opinion, not judging the customers that find this version useful / justifying the price.

P.S. - All aftermarket good quality dashcams can be installed the DIY way, in a much better finish in any car. Skoda's dashcam installation looks the most "aftermarket", straight from the factory/dealership.

Re: Skoda Slavia Style Edition : A Close Look

In the whole thread, when I started reading- front has not changed, rear has not changed, side has not changed, I was like okay, something must be different in interiors then, like a different interior scheme or leather dash (wishful thinking I know)… There we go, a shoddily installed dash cam with dangling wire and nothing else. So basically, you are offering blacked roof and mirror for 30k? I really love Skoda cars but things like these disappoints the enthusiast in me. Why not address the issues with such updates, like the interior squeaks or soft touch materials or better instrument cluster or quality of leather on seats (Rapid has far better quality leather which doesn’t age whereas in Slavia we can see the creases & folds very early in the ownership).

The VW bug has bitten Skoda too:

Anyways, I’m eagerly waiting for the new Superb and Octavia, if they bring back the diesel, I know many who would lineup in front of Skoda dealer with a chequebook.

This one will give tough competition to VW's Sound Edition update in terms of meme-worthy material. When will these companies grow up and start taking Indian customers seriously

I personally feel that, this installations looks quite after market. Any idea why there are two wires for dashcam?

Also its using suction mount. I personally had bad experience with suction mounts for dashcam. Over the period of time, suction mounts looses its strength and it falls quite often. I was not able to source the suction mount and I had to get a new camera. These days, most of the camera are using 3M 2-way tapes. It really holds the camera very well. I believe sourcing a new tape should not be a problem in case if its required.

Re: Skoda Slavia Style Edition : A Close Look

That Dashcam fitment looks absolutely ridiculous if you as me. They could have implemented it better- concealed the wires. Made it more discreet.

I believe its a dual channel camera. I.e. records front as well as rear views (which is more or less the norm now). So 1 cable is the usual USB power input for the front camera unit. 2nd cable is the power out + video input from the rear camera back into the front main unit for recording into the card in sync with the front video.

And you are right, the suction cup will not last the test of the incoming Indian Summers in most cars. Its really the laziest job I've seen in recent times with any limited edition across any brand. No thoughts or efforts have been put into it at all.

Let us appreciate the courage taken by Skoda team to name this as a "Style edition".

I wonder why would anyone pay 30k more for this model?
This is daylight robbery.

Actually this edition makes the sound edition look great as it had a factory fitted OEM subwoofer. The latest editions and concepts from Skoda can best be named as Karol Bagh Edition.

Re: Skoda Slavia Style Edition : A Close Look

Let's just say "at the beginning of every appraisal cycle someone at Skoda/VW marketing gets very creative to impress his boss". Earlier, there used to be yearly "Dealer editions" with funky sticker jobs. Seems as part of VAG 2.0 that has gone to the next level.
