Does anybody have info about the weight of the GP (Petrol)?
Roughly the same as the Vista Safire ~ 1050 kgs, when I test drove the Safire, I think some rework on the gear ratios could help this car, hope Fiat would do something.

Petra (old Sienna), Indigo, Fiesta and Ikon (Hatchbacks sold elsewhere) all have extended wheelbase as compared to their hatch versions. Linea went a step ahead and reskinned the other body panels too much like the ANHC (which again is derived from the upcoming Jazz).

Punto is the most anticipated and popular car.
Guys! if you just go by the number of views this thread has got, it is the leading one with 70,000+ views followed by the Ritz with 43000+ views and Jazz trailing at the 3rd with just 37000+ views.
I just wish these views are turned in to sales.!
Again i would like to ask the same question (which was by the way unanswered last time)
Can TATA-FIAT A.S.S. handle the success of Grande Punto?
Comments please!

This is a question that has been kindling in everyones mind, they might not be able to do justice to the A.S.S initially but i feel that eventually they will catch up because 'now' they have a genuine intent to make the product click. I have felt that 'intent' being a Linea owner.

the only problem is Fiat launching cars with under powered engines. I know the Indian tax structure is created to promote small cars with up to 1.2l engines and the similar tax structure for big cars with powerful engines but you have to draw a line somewhere.

I say this because I found the Linea very boring to drive. Its just too underpowered

This is great news...
So we all get to see the car on the road.
Any news about the engine options ( FGT or VGT ) for the diesel...

And they will publish a small photograph of the first Grande Punto on the assembly line in the business section of national newspapers?

Fiat is tight lipped as usual. Look how Maruti has a countdown website going for the Ritz. But May 13? Is Fiat trying to spring a surprise on Maruti by launching the car 2 days before the Ritz?

I honestly feel they should postpone the launch. May 13 is too close to Ritz's May 15 launch date. Fiat and the GP would be blown away by Maruti's blitzkrieg launch of the Ritz..

I feel let GP face the Ritz blitkrieg. If its a good product it should stand its turf. Good advt. alone cannot sell average products for long.

Amit, since we know fiat is not so great interms of managing its website, PR etc, wouldnt it stand a better chance if the product coupled with a compettitive price tag do the talking if it were launched before the Ritz.

Am eagerly waiting for this one more than any other car for quite some time.

I believe the new (proposed) tax structure does away the linkage with engine capacity -

So then, do we expect the 1.6 L powered version of the Grande Punto ?

GP launch is confirmed on june 4rth according to reliable sources.May 13 would be despatches which Ritz has done almost 4 days back. Now the despatched ritz's would be half way down to the dealers.May 15th is the training for product heads in mumbai i believe.
@ schitre05 -If all those hits should be turned into sale i feel you have to buy atleast 10 puntos&10 ritz each. But keeping jokes apart,Fiat launche were always popular among enthusiats but sales never clicked due to no faults of the product.
