Re: Shell fuel prices vary considerably from one city to another

I only filled Shell regular petrol in my Tiago right from day 1. But I figured that engine would run better with 95 RON. So, I started filling power95 from HP COCO nearby. But after doing so for 6 months, car started vibrating a lot. Now I filled 5l of new formula Vpower in almost empty tank and vibrations seem to have reduced. Experiment is continuing. I will fill 5 to 10 litres more and see the results in next 1 month.

The above article has no mention of RON 95 petrol. Usually a brand launching a new variety of octane petrol is filled with pompous marketing, ads and promotions. There is no way shell has suddenly converted all its vpower in India to octane 95 without making a noise.

Your comment makes sense to me. But shell not selling greater than 91 octane doesn't make sense to me hahaha. Hence I don't trust their marketing strategy

I asked the shop manager at Shell Thippasandra, Bangalore. He said both grades of petrol are RON91. The dispensing guys (who are not so knowledgeable) keep saying Vpower is equivalent to RON 95-98. I think they are not so reliable in terms of their product knowledge.

Store manager also added that the new formulation of Vpower is much improved and has a lot more of cleaning agents.

I also like the new Vpower more than the old one, suits my Tiago better.

Shell diesel drops to 90.78 in Pune, almost same as HPCL/IOCL/BP. They do try to sell v-power one at 10 rupees additional cost. Most OEM like Tata recommend regular diesel in owner manual.

Re: Shell fuel prices vary considerably from one city to another

I was in Pondicherry yesterday and noticed a board outside a Shell station announcing "petrol and disesel now at market rates". But in Chennai Shell diesel alone is sold at market rates, not petrol. I wonder why?
