Top model with turbo petrol engine used to cost 18.68 lakhs. Now it costs 17.89 lakhs. Prices are down even after the addition of ventilated seats & auto dimming irvm.
Earlier, base and one up variant was there only on website and paper. Showrooms were not taking bookings for the same saying that they have been discontinued.
Expect the same for this new fictional base variant at 9.98 lakhs.

Re: 2024 MG Astor launched at Rs 9.98 lakh

Astor for sure is under-rated. There is an Astor in my apartments and the premium-ness shines through when compared to other similarly priced vehicles. The car looks Posh. We wanted to buy one, but opted for the City due to its much higher FE and our trust in brand Honda.

Personally, I believe the low FE works against it as a daily drive option. Further, the looks, while premium in the flesh, are quite subdued and not very sharp (like Hyundai) or Rugged (like Tata, Mahindra). Honda's vehicles are subdued as well but they have an established brand and customer segment.

Astor introduced few firsts in India, such as ADAS, Leather upholstered dashboard, AI assistant. But the competition quickly caught up and Hyundai one-upped them with level 2 ADAS.

I hope with the refreshed features and pricing, it finds more takers. Their Marketing and PR teams have their jobs cut out.

Re: 2024 MG Astor launched at Rs 9.98 lakh

The only thing which is stopping the Astor from being a block buster is the abysmal mileage figures I would think. The car is great to look at from the outside, features a great looking interior and comfortable ride quality. MG as a brand is also expanding and service centers are non-issue as well. With the recent refurbishments and the new pricing strategy, Astor seems to be a value for money in the segment they are operating in. Only if the fuel economy figures also improved

Re: 2024 MG Astor launched at Rs 9.98 lakh

The entry variant itself is pretty loaded with LED headlamps, art leather dashboard, ACC, rear AC vents, most safety features including ESP, Hill ahold, larger 16 inch wheels and many other features that one would normally find in mid variants and above. I am not sure how MG manages to price the car at this sub-10-lakh level, given the high GST rates for 4m + cars.

MG shouldn't have changed the front grill for India. The equivalent MG ZS in Thailand looks better: https://www.mgcars.com/en/mg-models/new-mg-zs/overview

Re: 2024 MG Astor launched at Rs 9.98 lakh

Astor is a very well put together car which gives a European feel to it (build quality wise). It can give a tough fight if they add or fix below issues:

1. 1.3 Turbo is nothing compared to Turbo offerings from VW/Korean Twins. Also very low fuel economy.
2. 360 Degree camera is abysmal (including rear view).
3. Infotainment is laggy at times.

Re: 2024 MG Astor launched at Rs 9.98 lakh

A promising car bogged down by poor planning and execution:

1. NA Turbo petrol is lethargic to say the least, compared to the competition's Turbo Petrol's.

2. Even though the base model is loaded with features, it misses out on 6 Airbags and option of an Automatic.

3. The cheapest Automatic, Select CVT, is 14 lac ex-showroom, so anyone looking for an AT has to spend ~5-6 lac (on road) more than the base model MT. Atleast they could have given AT as an option in the 2nd base.

4. Even the select CVT, which is otherwise good value for money, misses out on 6 Airbags.

MG Motor India has announced the launch of the 2024 Astor. The SUV is available in five variants, with prices starting at Rs 9.98 lakh (ex-showroom).
Updates are welcoming but honestly, Astor doesn't appeal to me at 20L.

Can someone pl confirm, what are these projections (highlighted in red) around the Radar? Are they washers? If yes, then it might be a LiDAR used for ADAS.
