Possibly due to emissions regulations in their major European markets they have dropped this tune out of their global lineup for simplicity sake. In France for example, you pay 10,000 euros as an environmental tax for new cars emitting over 170g/km of CO2. The 2.0L engine will comfortably exceed this threshold which means that there is practically no market for that engine. VAG has only plug-in hybrids between the 1.5 TSI and the 2.0L motor in the RS version in Europe.

They will sell the new RS version in very limited numbers and the customers who are interested in buying the RS will get it despite the tax in Europe.

Hello Bhpians,
Am i reading this correctly, is skoda really bringing back the DIESEL engine. I thought that VW and Skoda have axed their Diesel engines forever. Wil this be available in India? Please correct me if i am wrong.

Is it only me or does the full black air dam in the front bumper look really ugly?

IMHO, Skoda should have retained the fog lamps or provided the bumper in the RS variant for all the variants. It looks like the car is grinning for the dentist IYKWIM. Happy to see the physical buttons below the screen, thought Skoda was going to axe it for good.

Also, will the RS variant come to India? Really hope Skoda introduces the station wagons too, though lot of pickers will not be there, it will open a new body style market in India.

Also, the alloys for the lower variants look too lame. Just as is the case with new manufacturers, the top variants have plastic inserts in them to aid in "aerodynamic efficiency". Not only does it make the wheel look ugly, it does pick up lots of scratches and look old over time. IMHO, the best looking alloys are that of the Sportline.

One thing that stands out in the new Octavia is the 13" infotainment system. Kudos to Skoda for not making it too big and obtrusive, yet at the same time too small and dated. From the pictures, the UI also looks good, resembling the Tesla's. Waiting for India launch!

The Octavia and Superb need to come back and fast. Skoda can make a killing because there are no good VFM mid size/ large sized premium sedans. The Altis and Civic are dead here so the Octavia can slot as a winner there. The german and swedish folks are expensive - not VFM. The Superb is a winner there.

C'Mon Skoda- get these two here and ASAP!

IF i was a part of Skoda management, I would delete the annoying plastic aero-wheels, add a panoramic sun-roof and make the RS available to any prospective customer without drama.

Not having an option of a sunroof when sub 10L cars have them is a glaring miss. This is a feel good-factor, and makes the experience for rear passengers much better. Enthusiasts will definitely buy the RS, it was the best FWD car for sale in the country.

Functional dual exhaust, 250+ ponies, four doors and a sweet looking functional interior in addition to being the last (IMHO) pure fossil fuel powered VRS, I believe Škoda has a winner on its hands. I will buy one. Peace

I hope they launch the RS, it will be like the M340i which surprisingly sold fair numbers in India. They just have to price it correctly.

I spoke with the Mumbai dealership yesterday to register our interest in the Vrs. They are expecting the new Superb, Kodak and Enyaq this year. The Vrs is expected next year. He seemed pretty sure about it. Hoping they launch it by mid year. It will be a great addition at 40L OTR.

Mumbai dealership estimated at 40L OTR for the VRS or the non-VRS one? I head octavia is going to be a CBU Import.

With RS bumped up to 265 BHP, hoping same tune will trickle down to A6 too from current 242 BHP as A6 often takes engine tunes from RS models.
