Re: Maruti Jimny’s S-Cross moment | Sales tanking, 2-lakh rupee discounts official

I test drove the AT. Engine is too strained for me. Maybe it was the bad test drive car so I will test drive it again at another dealer and report. That strained engine is my only reason for stepping back from the Jimny purchase.

For the benefit of other potential buyers, here is the quotation received from two different dealers.

1. Jeewan Motors Nexa Hoshangabad Road Bhopal -
Ex Showroom: 14,79,000/-
Consumer Offer: 1,80,000/-
MSSF offer: 1,50,000/-
Ex Showroom price after discount: 11,49,000/-
Insurance: 35,000/-
RTO Charges: 1,48,775/-
Temp registration charges: 500/-
TCS: 14790/-
Total: 13,49,065/-

2. Rajrup Motor Junction Nexa ISBT Bhopal
Ex Showroom: 14,79,000/-
Consumer offer: 1,00,000/-
MSSF offer: 1,50,000/-
Dealer margin discount: 80,000/-

Zero Dep Maruti Insurance: 40,939/-
RTO Charges: 1,51,060/-

Amen to this!

I did not understand what you (and some others) meant when they wrote this. I was looking to replace my father's Grand i10 auto with the Jimny. But hell no! I test drove it and now I know better.

Great car - the Jimny - but not for us. Even if we (for me, not my father) have to buy a 4x4, I will either get a used Endy or Tuscon AWD or a new Thar 4x4.

For my father, we do not need so much power also but Jimny's power is too compromised. We will continue with the super-smooth Grand i10 auto for him and his city use.

Re: Maruti Jimny’s S-Cross moment | Sales tanking, 2-lakh rupee discounts official

Hi all,
FYI
My SA called today and updated that, the existing discount 3.3 Lakh (1.8L dealer + 1.5L MSSF : Alpha) has been extended till July31.
Earlier it was being said that the offer was valid only till July15.

Looks like the offer will be valid until the stocks are cleared.
So if anyone is still interested, you can discuss/reconfirm with your respective dealership.

Regards,
DLC5005

Re: Maruti Jimny’s S-Cross moment | Sales tanking, 2-lakh rupee discounts official

Maruti Jimny discounts now at Rs 3.3 lakh.

This is the maximum discount on the Jimny since its launch.

Quote:
The Jimny was previously listed with discounts of up to Rs 2.5 lakh, but that's now gone up by Rs 80,000 to Rs 3.3 lakh. The top-end Alpha trim gets a Rs 1.8 lakh cash discount, along with an additional Rs 1.5 lakh off for buyers who opt for Maruti Suzuki Smart Finance (MSSF). Jimny Zeta now gets benefits worth up to Rs 2.75 lakh with the MSSF scheme. The Jimny is priced from Rs 12.74 lakh to Rs 14.95 lakh before discounts.

That means the prices have fallen 26-27% since launch! Can't imagine what the current depreciation will be like. I feel had maruti priced the Jimmy under 20 Lacs at launch itself, this would've been a very different story.

Re: Maruti Jimny’s S-Cross moment | Sales tanking, 2-lakh rupee discounts official

Seeing the discounts I encouraged my cousin who is about to purchase a Fronx (that car is quite popular now) to also consider the Jimny, it's almost the same price anyway and there is that cool factor.

So off he went, but he came back to tell me that it wasn't going to make it to the list, mostly because of engine, NVH, slow to react steering , no place to keep anything etc.

Given he drives a 16V WagonR, I realised that Maruti stopped Indianizing the vehicle at the point where they added 2 additional doors, called it a day and went home.

3.3 Lakh discount, that too after the Thar 4 door teaser, looks like this thread has predicted Jimny's fate rather well.

Re: Maruti Jimny’s S-Cross moment | Sales tanking, 2-lakh rupee discounts official

Been eyeing a Suzuki Jimny lately, especially for weekend adventures around Bangalore's not-so-bad "off-road" streets

Saw post about the MSSF scheme, but I currently looking for outright buy. Hence Checked out the JP Nagar showroom over the weekend - they have Jimnys in Blue and Blue Black ready, While the salesperson mentioned the current discount is purely for MSSF Scheme purchases. I have requested to check if they are able to offer something similar for a cash. Should hopefully hear back by this Wednesday.

There's a whopping 1.50 lacs additional discount if you get a loan from MSSF. I don't think they will be able to go anywhere near this discount on cash purchase. If not, why don't you get a loan and prepay it within 5-6 months unless the clause says otherwise.

Well said man. I could've forgiven the engine, but the steering is totally not happening for me. Also the storage and ergonomics. If I console myself by thinking I've bought a small city car, these things stop me from doing it.

FronX is more of a family car, but the Jimny isnt. Its a niche product for a niche market.

As a second car for some solo off-roading on weekends ? Maybe yes.

As a sole family or even a second city beater car ? Hell No.

With the current discounts, Jimny makes a better choice.
But strict NO, as a primary or single car for a household.
(Since it's suitable for a family of 2 adults and kids).

Rightly so, Jimny has it's shortcomings. Hence might not be easy for everyone to cope up with the shortcomings.
If there is no use case for a 4X4 then better to choose other options such as Brezza, Sonet, Venue etc at a similar price bracket.

+1
Just incase the launch price was similar to current discounted prices, and incase a delta variant was there, with no frills and features to keep the entry price tag low, 100% Jimny sales would have been on a decent high.

I think the sales person is right. Have been following up with SA from past few days and surely the dealership can't match up to the 1.5L discount of MSSF. (As per the SA) basically what happens is, once the loan is approved they get an ID generated from bank, and they have to enter it in their system to get the discount applied and only then an invoice can be generated.
May be if you opt out of MSSF they might try to give additional 10-20k cash discount or may be some accessories.
Anyhow give it a try

Meanwhile, the bank also provides an option to pre close the loan after 1 year, and might not levy too much on preclosure charges either(haven't checked the charges though).
Though loan, documentation, interest etc are a bit of cumbersome process, the 1.5L additional discount is too sweet a deal to be missed.

You made it clear in a sentence.
As a second, fun, allrounder car Jimny is terrific value car.

PS:
Have seen many people(including my family), comparing Jimny to a car ranging from swift,Baleno, Brezza ,venue to even creta, seltos, since they fall in same price bracket, rightfully so.
But in my opinion it's supposed to be compared to an erstwhile gypsy, old thar. It's just a utilitarian, more comfortable jeep/offroad vehicle with certain safety and comfort oriented features.

If you don't have a use case for a Jimny, and yet to wish to own one, then Jimny is surely a heart vs head descision. So, kindly don't take a plunge just because of high discounts.

Sorry for the late response. I started visiting the showrooms last week of June and you can find the attached latest quote from the same showroom which we settled on. Total cash discount of 3.6L since financing is done through them. They are adamant on insurance bought from them and did not budge. Delivery would be within a week - just done with PDI today. It's a April 24 manufactured car. I am trying to squeeze in the accessories and extended warranty as well - fingers crossed. Basically I just took quote from one showroom and asked around with rest of them and finally asked the nearby showroom to match it. I am pretty satisfied with this purchase.

Maruti Jimny and Mahindra Thar sales in July 2024. The ₹3.3L discount seems to have worked for Jimny. After almost a year, Maruti has sold 2000+ units of the Jimny
