Citroen's last cash cow has also given up. With BluSmart wrapping up, Citroen literally has nothing left for it in India. Call it the Stellantis curse but not one business touched by Stellantis has worked.

Stellantis internationally is on thin ice with Market Cap down by 60 Percent.

They should have used the Fiat badge instead of Citroen. People still look for the old Puntos and Palios in the used market.

They(Stellantis) can still salvage these products. Just launch a facelift version that looks nothing similar to these current products but launch them under the Fiat badge. Ditch all the budget flappy door handles, cheap interiors and other cost cutting exercise and they might get atleast double the existing customers.

Citroen Basalt or Fiat Fastback? Which one would you pay Creta money for especially since the Fiat is a flex fuel powered car.

The most number of cars I have seen on the road from Citroen were these Citroen e-C3 taxis, and now with BluSmart shutting shop, that sales channel has also closed. They need to up their game or else we will have another case of Fiat, Chevrolet and the like.

Citroen miscalculated the Indian consumers mindset which is wanting more for their money and Citroen even though being a great car in all the mechanical aspect lacks some major features which even a car from below segment has which makes the consumer to think that they are missing out on a lot. Hear me out Citroen if you remove your fabulous suspension system and instead give the car a sunroof, wireless car play, big touchscreen and alloy wheels and more features yours sales will boost cause that is an Indian consumers mindset.

I had to stop at Jeep Haldwani (which has a joint showroom with Citroen) and had a chance to inspect the cars and speak with the sales staff there.

My impressions
  1. Very few people manning the Citroen section, and their half of the showroom had virtually no footfall
  2. The Basalt and C3 are stunning in the flesh and seem very well built. Interiors are of a good quality as well. Far better than the Kiger Turbo MT which I shelled out 10.5lac OTR for (Delhi Reg)
  3. The chap from Citreon I spoke with acknowledged the cars lack features, and he said that management has taken note. He also said that all the features we're asking for like a sunroof, push button start etc. will be ready in time for the festive season.

Will say this. I am VERY tempted to trade in my 2024 Kiger for a Basalt, even at it's current spec. The car is easily the best-looking coupe SUV. Maybe Second only to the 6E from Mahindra.

An aircross with a sunroof, cruise control along with 360 degree camera completes my list of must have features in any given car. I am now so fond of ACC in my vehicle and 360 cam for that perfect parking.

Everyone talking about features but the main devil is in the engine where 1.2turbo uses wet timing belt instead of chain. The wet timing belt accumulate dust and cause engine failure this is what I researched and across the world same compliant. One of our teambhp member replied me saying from 2023 it was changed to chain trype instead of wet belt. But unless I see I can’t confirm.

Will buyers trust the Fiat name anymore, considering their past record that hasn't exactly reflected a long term commitment to our market?

Something about this Fiat reminds me of the facelifted Honda Amaze

Wasn't Stellantis looking at introducing the Alfa Romeo brand to India, along with Leapmotor EVs?

The Tonale is based on the same platform as the Jeep Compass.

This could be a nice competitor to the entry level German crossovers.

The love it or hate it design language has to change, for their cars to become more acceptable to the general public. Once the design draws you near is when you discover and notice what else a product has to offer. Hardly anyone buys a Citroen because I feel to most the design of the Citroen cars just doesn’t appeal.
