Re: Mr. Ratan Tata with my 2023 Tata Safari

Quote (The OE tyres provided with the cars are hard. The lower trims get Bridgestones while the top trim gets MRFs with an odd size. The size 245/55 r19 is very odd and if you end up damaging one of your tyres, it is very hard to find a tyre of this size easily. I have upgraded my tyres to Pirelli Pzeros and they have made a huge difference to the car and its handling)

Hi, I have booked the same model and would like to know that what size did you get the Pirelli. Are they in stock size? Also any other brand like Bridgestone or Yokohama are available in the stock size? Thanks

No other brand than MRF has that size. They have deliberately created that size for monopoly. They had done the same thing with the Hexa as well. I upgraded the size on my car marginally within acceptable levels. I went for the LR i.e land rover tyres as the safari uses the LR platform and they are working very well. I got : Pirelli P Zero 255/55 R 19 Tubeless 111W . The link for the tyre is : https://www.pirelli.com/tyres/en-ww/...ero/255_55-r19 . Michelin Pilot Sport 4 is an option in this size but they would be too soft for the car due to its weight and would last only 20k to 25k kms. I exchanged the stock tyres on day 1 and so got a good deal. The car looks more muscular after the upgrade. Can share a pic if you want..

Re: Mr. Ratan Tata with my 2023 Tata Safari

My car's (Accomplished Plus AT, 6S, 2023, Stellar Frost) ODI reading now is 2900km, and I had a long drive of ~1750km from Delhi to HYD on the third day of the car purchase. Here are my experiences:

1. The indicator-based camera for blind spots is sometimes a distraction, and they should have the split screen option, especially if you are on navigation.

2. Wireless charging is not user-friendly; finding the right spot for the phone to be in charging mode takes a lot of time.

3. A six-seater configuration is a good option, and ventilated seats at the back are a plus. I have a dog, and he travels with us. However, we have a bench (aftermarket) to make six-seaters and seven-seaters. The Bench becomes a cup holder if you wish to use it that way.

4. Over the last 40 days of purchase, I had to factory reset the device several times, mainly because of some glitches (sound not coming during indication, Bluetooth errors when ADAS sound and music play together)

5. ADAS is helpful but distracts multiple times during driving, especially in the city area. However, I liked the Driver attention alert; it does help if you wish to plan your breaks.

6. Ride quality is fantastic, and even after many kilometers, it feels smooth and breezy on state and national highways. The potholes do not bother us in Safari much.

7. Sometimes, I find the noise from the rest of the empty seats annoying.

8. Boot space is okay if you use a six-seater configuration, but you have challenges if you have more people.

9. The moodlight on the roof shows a reflection on the side mirrors, which impacts the concentration

10. The gesture on the tailgate has a high nuisance value; I like the boot lock and unlock using the car remote or touch panel.

11. I feel that the interiors are fantastic; even though they are in light color, I haven't found challenges keeping them clean. This is even after having a dog in the car many times.

12. The cabin light in the middle row is limited and not bright.

Thank you for the extensive review

I, too, have noticed some panel gaps on the exterior. The interior, not so much.

Surprisingly, I haven't gotten any squeaky noises in the cabin at all. Maybe it comes after a lot of use? I have stuffed the car with more than 7 people, too, but haven't gotten this issue yet.

The ADAS is erratic, yes; the most reliable ones for me are the blind spot indicator, lane change indicator, and front collision control. Have you tried adjusting the collision control sensitivity? There are 3 options: low-medium-high. Mine is on medium. Also, I hope your number plate doesn't cover the front radar. There is a whole thread on it I believe.

I don't have paint complaints, although to my eye (which stares at the car a lot), the difference in shade of the plastic bumper and metal body is obvious. Although I immediately checked other cars and any car with a plastic bumper has a slight tone difference.

I wouldn't say the headlights are bad, but I did want headlights which, when flicked, have a substantial presence on the road. Today, I would give it a 7/10

Yes, I do wish we had some accessories.

I have the MRF R19. Dont have much experience with other tyres to say they are hard or not, but I have been itching to give it a unique look. I have been thinking of spacers to make it flush with the body or AT tyres, which would then generate noise or reduce highway comfort.

I also thought of a matte Garware PPF, but that looks like unwaxed polish.

Other than that, I have been happy with the car. Maximum usage is weaving through city traffic. Is there a way to explore sharper brakes? I would get much more confidence even though I am used to it now.

My recent favourite picture is below

Thank you so much for your points.

The blind spot indicator definitely cuts over the Bluetooth, and then you have to reset the Bluetooth connection to get the music back.

I, too, have had no issues with keeping the interior clean. A foam cleaner handy can get the grime out quickly.

Can we change the cabin light to yellow? It gives a more homely feel, and older cars always had yellow; the white is such a hospital look.

1. Agree. Sometimes you need to keep looking at the map especially if there are two very close turns. But the indicator replaces it with side video. However, there is a very effective alternative. Just enable navigation on the MID.

2. Never had this issue. I have a different issue though. I need an option to DISABLE wireless charging. Don't want to put the phone through inefficient wireless charging everytime I sit in the car.

3. Thanks for the pic, pretty cool! I guess the answer is No but still asking - Is the aftermarket seat comfortable for long journeys?

4. I never had these issues. My infotainment software is R12.6 (24Sep2023). The only issue I faced is MID gets stuck and this too is rare. Actually last 10 days, I have not had any issue with the displays.

5. I got used to those sounds :D. Also, I have turned down the system voice/alerts volumes (whatever I could) and that helped.

6. Totally agree!

7. Interesting. Can you describe it more? What is the noise like? When does it actually come?

8. I am using my Safari as a 5 seater. I think most cars in this segment should basically be treated as 5 seaters with big boot OR 7 seaters with no option for luggage :D

9. Hmm. Never noticed. Will check it out next time.

10. Looks like I am the only one with high degree of success with the gesture unlock of tailgate! Works for me 8 out of 10 times.

11. Agree to some extent. I too like the light interiors. One thing I feel Tata got it wrong is the light colored steering wheel. It has already started becoming stained. An all-black steering wheel would be more appropriate.

12. I think they have given aeroplane seat like focussed reading lights. I don't mind them because it does not distract the driver.

May I know where did you get the aftermarket bench fitted? Contact please?
Looks a good addition for my 6S Hexa.

The blind spot indicator will always cut over the music when you are changing lanes which ends up in bluetooth music not coming through. The only way to disable this is to turn it off:

Settings - Driver Assistance - 2nd or 3rd last option of blind spot indicator to be toggled off.

It will be toggled on every time you turn the car off and on which is why you will have to turn it on each drive before you start driving. But don't factory reset each time just because of this.

Some more pictures with Yuki. Clearly Im obsessed! Let me know if you recognise the decal hehe.

Looks a good addition for my 6S Hexa.
I love it; it is high-utility, and you get decent cupholder space. My car dealer organized it the same day. I insisted to him that I needed a 7S, and he sold me a 6S with this option, and we really liked it. It gives you the comfort of 7S, and at the same time, you get the much-liked ventilated seats on Safari.

I dont put phone on wireless charging at all, its very slow and i hate not seeing phone close to me while driving

Its actually not bad, and can easily fit a kid. My larger purpose was to use the middle row for dog and for that i needed a surface which is flat so that his bed comes easily and this seat solves that problem.

Did now.

So when i am on highway, the seat belts make noise from the rear as it continues to touch the pillar. I also heard the headrest of the captain seat making noise when adjusted to height.

It is the case.

I have had success, but i literally dont find it convenient, best is to use the buttons as it is easy and success rate is 10/10. Basically the problem comes when the cleaners/shopping mall guys force close the tail gate without using buttons.

Same issue, I keep stain removing wet wipes, but little success.

Sorry I had got busy and could not reply before. Here are some pics of the upgraded tyres. They add a lot of presence to the already hefty look. Performance is just top notch. I am touching almost 5k kms on these tyres now and the confidence these instill on the highways is just great.

On a side note, has anyone got the lane keep assist of the lane follow assist activated? I have been following with the dealer on these and they are clueless on when these features will come. I have tried all the setting combinations on the ADAS functions but they are still an hit and miss for me. Also, I see some cars has more ambient light colors and some have less. My car does has only white, yellow and red shades while some others have green, blue and other colours when selecting the custom colours and not the presets.. Anyone has the same issue ?

I was recently called for an update available on the car for the speedo showing 0. Have not got that issue since the fix. Other than that no updates yet.

I have also installed auxiliary lights to solve the headlight throw issues. They make a huge difference and I am very happy with them. No issues with warranty because the wiring on these is completely different from the vehicle wiring. Some pics for reference.

Hey these look very good. You should make this post on the official Safari facelift thread as well. I am sure it will help folks who are looking for a tyre upgrade.

May I ask what price you paid for the tyres? The Pirelli website does not mention it. Thanks in advance.

Re: Mr. Ratan Tata with my 2023 Tata Safari

Well, it’s been about 7-8 months of owing and driving Tata Safari Accomplished Plus, Automatic Transmission. So far, the experience has been great, and sometimes I feel that it is a little bit of luck for us or that people have actually exaggerated the issues that they have with their Tata cars. I'm keeping my fingers crossed to continue having the same feeling throughout my ownership experience with Tata Safari, but never have I felt that I made a wrong choice, picking Safari over XUV 700, Innova HyCross, Alcazar, Tiguan, Kodiaq, Tuscon, and several other cars I got to drive and test. My ODO meter has now clocked 16,000km in a short period, and I must say that the distance has been a combination of city, highway, day, evening, and midnight drives. [b]ve come from the Honda experience where sales service was not even a question, but here are my key takeaways from the ownership experience so far, and I will also add a few things that could get better:

Areas where I enjoyed owning and driving the Safari:

a. Suspension is smooth, and the overall ride quality is great. Have driven more than 800/900km in a single day without breaks and the car doesn't make you feel tired. I also like those prompts on "Driver alertness/attention," which comes from the system when you drive continuously without breaks.

b. The automatic transmission has been fine despite variations in speeds and terrain, and it generally does its job well.

c. The seats are very comfortable, and ventilation does help in extreme temperatures. We have a capital seat configuration, and all the passengers feel happy and not tired. We also have a dog who has accompanied us for 70%- 80% of the total ODO reading, and we think the car accommodates it well.

d. Boot space is perfect with the last rows folded. In fact, unloading from the car tells us that we were super loaded on all the trips. However, with the six-seater (all rows open) configuration, you cannot expect much space for luggage.

e. I like the stability of the car; this factor is a wow amongst all other ancillary stuff related to the technology that the car offers. I can tell you with experience that I feel very comfortable driving Safari at 100+ versus any other car in this segment. This could be due to many factors, which I don't understand, but sitting in Safari's driving seat, you feel that you are in better control. In fact, it gives you a feeling that you are in a steady state, and you can cruise with ease and still control your car if an unfortunate object or animal comes on the way. I have driven the car in MP, where a lot of cows and other animals cross the highway, and this is the area where I felt very happy driving safari, and I could easily accelerate and apply brakes where needed.

f. Air cooling, even at ~50 Degrees, was ok. However, I would expect the second-row passengers to get better comfort from the middle vents and not the ones on the side panel. The third-row passengers get better air from the vents they have.

g. Space and utility placeholders are good, and there are too many; sometimes, you can forget where you kept your stuff.

h. The dashboard technology is good, and it is supported by a great camera and software system. Besides a few glitches that I encountered before the software updates, it has been a smooth experience.

i. This is an unpopular opinion, but IRA is definitely a great support in the experience. I like reading the statistics, and the connectivity features are handy many times. I also like IRA's comfort when I have given my car for service or valet parking.

j. Again, this is a contrarian view. My experience with Tata Motors After Sales Service (Prathammalik and Jasper in Hyderabad, Metro Motors in Karnal) and Dealer for Purchase (Metro Motors) has been excellent. In fact, they are more responsive than many other brands. The Tata Motors customer support team has been responsive, too.

Areas where I expect some improvements:

a. ADAS is great, but I am annoyed by the frequent alerts. These alerts do not really help in Indian conditions.
b. My visibility on the pillar side is limited due to the design of the car.
c. Seat welcome and memory features can be improved.
d. OTA for software updates should be there; it is difficult to spare time and go for updates.

Areas where I am a little disappointed:

a. I don't know if I have many, but I feel that the 19-inch configuration sometimes bothers you on the smaller bumps. I am not sure if it has to do with air pressure at that time or in general.
b. The finishing of the final product could have been better. I have seen the JBL logos coming out from the speakers, and I also noted that the red lights on the door inside needed pasting when they came out.
