So it just comes with a few accessories pre-installed?

It gets the dual tone cabin of the hybrid models in place of the ultra basic plain black. I like this update. This plain petrol GX HyCross is a credible option for large families who want to travel together and don’t have the budget/running to justify the hybrid. So much more space than similarly priced Hector Plus or Safari or XUV700, along with a proper usable boot. And the insides don’t scream taxi anymore.

172 bhp at 197 nm torque? Are you sure those are the nos? Looks quite odd.

Yeah, these have always been the numbers for the non hybrid petrol HyCross. It’s a simple 2.0 NA petrol and comes mated with a CVT gearbox only.

and perhaps that’s why XUV700 despite having Mahindra DNA may continue to outsell this Toyota offering.

The news is missing the biggest change, it gets 6 airbags. They'll probably make 6 airbags standard at a later point. The interior colors/seats are similar to what is there in VX and feels much better than normal GX. With 6 airbags and better interiors, this is a sensible and worthy buy at a slightly higher price.

6 airbags are standard across all variants of the Innova Hycross.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross GX Limited Edition launched at Rs 20.07 lakh

I have an active booking for GX and tried to change to limited edition, but learnt that booking is not possible. It seems only around 200 vehicles are dispatched for the whole of India, and around 2 vehicles per dealer. The dealer will ask the current GX allotted customers whether they need the iimited edition one (as per the order of booking). One question bugs me though - if Hycross is selling like hot cakes, why the limited edition? Does that indicate a new GX(O) version in the near future?

I guess toyota wants to boost sales of petrol variants as demand is not as expected.

If that's the case Toyota should make the petrol version more desirable for families (Fleet owners may not be interested in a gas-guzzling petrol anyway). Barebones in a T badge may not sell, it's high time we get a GX(O) version with all the features of VX minus the hybrid.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross GX Limited Edition launched at Rs 20.07 lakh

There is certainly space for a GX(O) variant with basics like ACC, dual tone interiors and better headlamps in petrol spec. Hybrid premium is not justified for a lot of urban dwellers planning to use the car as a city runabout majorly. A friend of mine was looking to replace his 2018 Crysta 2.8 GX AT due to the BS4 diesel ban in Delhi and loved the VX as a package. He couldn’t justify paying the 7 lakh premium for hybrid considering the use case & ended up booking the GX. Toyota is certainly losing out on a good number of sales not offering better loaded petrol variants.

On the other hand, they should be offering a barebones variant with the hybrid engine for fleets and for people who want it.

Guess they are happy enough with the current demand for hybrids and may launch a barebones hybrid once production ramps up (or when prices will be raised, that a GX hybrid will be launched at today's VX hybrid price)

Wonder how much price/fuel economy difference would have made if they had launched a manual transmission variant for the Hycross.

Re: Toyota Innova Hycross GX Limited Edition launched at Rs 20.07 lakh

I have booked the GX festive edition. The price difference was very reasonable. However just a few weeks back TN came up with a hike in road taxes for all vehicles. The festive edition being priced above 20L commands an extra 2% road tax ( 18% till 20L and 20% above 20L ) so for the extra 7k ex showroom price you will pay an extra 50k to the government

Not sure whether it is worth it now. Except for the soft touch dashboard everything else Can be done at the Toyota dealership with accessories. We can do for art leather covers outside as well.

Now I am having second thoughts.

Is it possible to change the dashboard material outside without compromising the factory fit and finish ?
