Vehicle retail sales up by 12.51% in October 2023

According to the data released by the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations (FADA), vehicle retail sales grew by 12.51% in October 2023, compared to the same month last year.



Overall sales for the month of October 2023 stood at 21,17,596 units, compared to 22,95,099 units in October 2022.

Tractor sales increased by 6.15%, from 58,823 units in October 2022 to 62,440 units last month.

Two-wheeler sales declined by 12.60% to 15,07,756 units from 17,25,043 units in October 2022.

Three-wheeler sales were up by 45.63% in October 2023. 1,04,711 units were sold, compared to 71,903 units in October 2022.

Passenger vehicle sales were down by 1.36% compared to the previous year. 3,53,990 units were sold last month, compared to 3,58,884 units in October 2022.

Commercial vehicle sales increased by 10.26%. 88,699 units were sold in October 2023, compared to 80,446 units in the previous year.

According to FADA, Navratri of 2023 marked a milestone with retail sales soaring by 18% year-over-year, surpassing the figures of Navratri 2017. Except for tractors, which saw an 8% decline, all categories exhibited commendable growth.

Seems like the discontinuation of the superb has breathed some life into the Camry. Sales have gone up by 40-50% compared to before, I am happy for the lone wolf.

Mahindra XUV700 outselling Harrier+ safari combo by 3x. This is quite an achievement. Heck even Thar is doing more than Harrier+ Safari.

Market seems to be divided like

Lower segment- Maruti
Sub4M- Tata
Mid-size crossover- Hyundai
Large SUV/Cross over- Mahindra

Looks like Mahindra will take home the highest profit among all. Their investment into home grown design+ Platform+engines seems to have paid off

Interesting article I stumbled upon today. However, the article is a couple of days old. It speaks about inventory pile-up with dealers. Have we seen the peak of the market already?

I still feel Mahindra has cracked the market well by selling these high-priced cars. Even Xuv300 seems to be doing steady numbers, despite being relatively old now and having a facelift around the corner.

I was in the market to inquire about the discounts being offered on Xuv300 and there were not many, especially on the lower variants. I had imagined that dealers would throw good discounts with the facelift on the horizon. Guess I was wrong.

Safari + Harrier deliveries started from 20th of October. Dispatch numbers are of the last 10 days. Sales numbers may go up to 3-3.5k max as Petrol preference may bring in another 2k.

What happened to the Jeep Grand Cherokee? Has it been discontinued? It is not in the factory dispatch list.

XUV 700 is selling more than the Innova twins!! Great show by Mahindra. Someone beat Toyota in their own game!

Harrier+Safari did those numbers in 10 days. November will bring full picture of it.

Mahindra Scorpio sales is what surprised me.
Its in Top 10 and also sold more than Hyundai Creta. That's a big achievement.

City got lowest sales (not counting Ciaz) among the peers. For Verna the 5 star rating has only resulted in decrease in sales marginally.
Jeep is struggling to do even 500, without a new product 1000 units is only a distant dream.
