Also quite surprised to see testing this soon after the unveil. Any guesses as to whether this prototype will have come from Japan or Manesar?

It was equally surprising to me to see a camouflaged car being tested on Goa’n roads. Moreover, I didn’t know that this is the 1st spotting of the 4th gen Swift .

The car was spotted at Chogm road, Porvorim.

I could see some well dressed ’executives’ driving this car and not the test driver that we have come to see.

To me it looked like the car was probably from India as with my limited observation it had all the specs of a RHD vehicle. The trade certificate plate was from ‘HR’.

Nobody knows it as good as Maruti.

We Indians do NOT buy hatchbacks beyond a certain budget. Period.
A hybrid won't be needed in this segment - because a Maruti hatchback - already gives ample mileage with just petrol. The time to recover the considerably high upfront price of a strong hybrid, is far too much for an average hatchback buyer. At the price overlap of a Hybrid hatchbacks - majority Indians (yes market is driven by majority) will prefer to jump to a Sedan/compact SUV, rather than sit in a cramped hatchback. Even for a tiny budget increase if you offer us Indians a sub4M SUV - we'll jump for it, and drop the hatchback.

Yes we might think that the urban young executives going to IT offices might pick a hybrid hatchback. But like I said earlier - Maruti Suzuki knows much better .
(Some like me - honestly feel a bit disappointed that while we buy a lot of hatchbacks, we fail to actually appreciate the value of a hatchback in cities. Most buy them for budget constraints, not for the practicality on offer. And here I am - owning 3 hatchbacks by choice .)

Unfortunately forced to agree with you. Fellow hatchback fan here, never owned anything else other than a Tavera. It is a pity though. The differential wouldn't be on the level of the GV maybe, because of the smaller battery? Here's hoping they at least mild hybrid tech with the auto variants.

re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.49 lakh

For International Markets:

- 6 Speed manual transmission
- Strong Hybrid
- For Japan, with the newly developed 1.2-liter 3-cylinder mild hybrid as the base engine.
- Swift EV likely only in 2030

For now, there are only rumors about the international model, according to which there will also be a 6-speed manual transmission and Suzuki's self-developed Strong Hybrid self-charging hybrid drive will also be available. The Sport model is not forgotten either, but its arrival is not expected before 2025, the more they are expected to stick with the 1.4-litre mild hybrid turbo engine. Suzuki's current plans include that the Swift will only be an electric car in fiscal year 2030, while sticking with an electrified internal combustion engine.

New Swift's design is only evolutionary over its predecessor.

re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.49 lakh

Does anyone know when this new Swift will be launched in India?

What about the sharing of this engine with other vehicles? Knowing the history with MSIL, I think Maruti would do that across many vehicles (Dzire, Eeco, Ignis, Baleno, WagonR maybe).

Reality is no one knows. The "speculations" are that it should be launched some time in 2024.

Unfortunately the interiors of the 2024 Swift is very similar to what we already have in the Baleno, Fronx and even to some extent the Vitara Brezza.
And when the 2024 Swift gets this interiors, the Dzire too will have the same. It’s beginning to get very repetitive and monotonous! To make it worse, all these cars are in the beginning of their life cycle! So expect to see the same interior layout for at least the next 2-3 years before any kind of midlife refresh kicks in ( and knowing Maruti that would be bare minimum as well).

It is just appalling how Maruti so shamelessly is copying pasting everything across the board and getting away with it! Looks like the buyers in India are very forgiving towards Maruti and they are making good use of that leeway to their maximum advantage.

This is exactly the reason why they price their products competitively, and it's working for them.

re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.49 lakh

New Swift to be launched in Japan on 6th Dec.

Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.49 lakh-screenshot-20231114-103009.png

Quote:
The new Swift has a newly developed engine and transmission, and there is no big difference between the mild hybrid at 24.5 km / l and the gasoline at 23.4 km / L. * Both have WLTC mode fuel economy.
Quote:
an electronic parking brake will be adopted for the first time on the Swift, but it will be standard equipment only on the top-of-the-line MZ, and the rest will be the same lever type as before.
Quote:
all models are also equipped with collision damage mitigation braking and adaptive cruise control that follows all speeds.
Quote:
Moreover, when the ACC is in operation, there is even a function that the car itself decelerates just before approaching the curve, regardless of whether there is a preceding vehicle or not.
Quote:
The lever-type parking brake grade also supports ACC at all vehicle speeds, but except for the MZ, it is not equipped with a brake hold function and stops for a few seconds.
Quote:
The new Swift has LED headlights on all grades, and the difference in the exterior is whether the grille is plated or not.
Quote:
The only difference in the interior is whether the steering wheel and shift knob are wrapped in genuine leather or not, and the steering tilt is equipped with a telescopic mechanism, which is also necessary and sufficient.
Buying a new Swift, this XG is a great deal.

re: Fourth-gen Maruti Suzuki Swift caught testing in India. EDIT: Launched at Rs. 6.49 lakh

As per many news articles available online, The New Swift is expected to Launch in India by February / March 2024! Is this Information correct?

Some articles also claim that India Specific Swift would be launched with an AMT instead of a CVT and also no ADAS functions.

Does anybody have more info on the New Swift and its launch Spec?
