I guess that the latest Skodas and the later versions of previous generation Octavias, Superbs and Rapids should be fine.

My october 2016 Octavia 1.8 tsi has to be repaired under the recall. Do I need to call the skoda customer care for this. I am little scared looking at this.

My 2016 Octavia 2.0 TDI has already gotten its driver side airbag replaced in february 2023 under the recall. Bonus is newer looking steering wheel. Go for it without any fear

Will they change the complete steering wheel or only the airbag module. I am afraid whether the dealership will be able to execute this work to perfection.

I remember my 2012 Honda Jazz went through both airbag replacements through 2 separate recalls. I am wondering why these airbags are still part of the supply chain of newer vehicles.

How are owners compensated for such delayed recall? I mean people have been using defective cars since 2012.

Should share your concern to appropriate VW authority and get airbags replaced as soon as possible if indicated.

I went through this update quite a few years ago for my Honda in 2015. Same Takata OE recall. The steering wasn't changed. Neither the airbags themselves. Only the airbag inflators were changed.

Only the airbag is changed. It's the portion of the steering wheel you press to sound the horn. Only that portion is changed. You don't have to worry, its a pretty simple job. It will hardly take 30 minutes.

A few more points:

1. Recalls are not confined from 2012 to 2018 as is mentioned on the site and are ongoing.

2. Recalls other than airbags are also included in another link on the same site and you can check if your car is affected there by entering its VIN.

3. The site will remain as an ongoing reference for recalls on Skoda cars so you can occasionally check whether your car is affected by any recall.

4. Paying heed to the laws of physics contribute more to keeping you safe than airbags.

5. Knowing your limits and the limits of your car contribute more to your safety than the number of airbags it contains.

As Turbanator mentioned elsewhere, there might be some old CKD kits lying around. Never know, so let's wait for a confirmation from Skoda India.

That being said, we did run my 2020-build Skoda Superb through the checker and we're not affected by the recall.

Did anyone get the airbag controller issue rectified ? What is entailed and how does the A.S.S. check that the system is fine post the change ?
