This logic won't work in India.

In India, people want maximum features in their cars along with good fuel efficiency. Driving dynamics don't even make it to most buyer's desire lists. Skoda needs to be careful if they are planning to launch the Kylaq with such an approach.

Buyers who look for some niche cars look for cars other than Maruti and Hyundai. They also don’t want to be short changed in terms of features and niceties. You can get away with one or two features but won’t be spared for turning deaf ears.

There is always a dirty war between performance vis-a-vis fuel efficiency and quality vis a vis pricing and features vis a vis reliability. We know who wins in these wars. Being a so called over-engineered company, there is a need to find a middle ground else might end up eating the sand.

There is no point blaming we the buyers after the debacle/fiasco.

If this is meant to compete with Nexon, XUV 3xo and Brezza, they will have to price it aggressively, because the 1.0 engine with 115ps would be lesser than than the Nexon and XUV, and a cylinder less than the brezza.

They should have launched this early, when it would have an advantage with the 6AT + TSI combo when nexon and XUV had AMTs and brezza had the old 4speed AT.

Lets see what they come up with for the final launch, which seems to be preponed. Why else will they start production 6 months before?

Some practical point’s based on my driving experience of all these [1.0 tsi in Kushaq],

• The driving experience of 1.0 is very superior to Nexon and 3X0, the way TSI engine delivers power is very smooth and exhilarating!
• Also, though its a 3 cylinder, its as refined as Brezza’s 4 cylinder and way more powerful.
• Even if its being launched late; in terms of driving dynamics it’s AT is still better than competition’s automatic drivetrains.

Since competition has 1 up in terms of brand value and reliability and all are Gen2 products well matured in the cycle, Skoda needs to sort out the minor niggles like creaking interiors, brake noise etc before launch and match it up with features and price at par with the competition.

Skoda should fix the below at a bare minimum.
- Brake noise
- Power window noise
- Creaky interiors
- Better the AC - change if required. You had 3+ years for the same.
- relatively easy clutch, angle, bite point and shift calibration.
- fix the common niggles

Continue with 3 years standard and 3 year extended warranty (maybe add the 7th year)
Continue with 30 -35'000 5 year service packs and ensure right compliance at service centres.

Do right pricing from day 1. Get your sales first and then increase instead of launching higher and then discounting when the customer has already vanished. Right feature mix in variants. Kushaq base and mid variants are like almost 4 lakhs apart on road. Learn from Ford Ecosport or Mahindras on pricing to begin with.

Don't try to make the car feel cheaper than the Kushaq. Don't use an internal protectionist approach. Kushaq already feels cheap compared to competition. Don't dilute anything more. Learn from Grand Vitara Sigma or like the Curvv revotron base variants on spec'ing the car.

On exports, it does not make any sense. Why would any country not take the just slightly more expensive Kushaq over this. There is no 4 meter tax benefits anywhere else.

Agree on the superiority of VW Group's 1.0 Liter TSI, but Brezza's refinement especially in higher revs/ speed more than 80 is news to me after owning a 2021 Brezza.

The Driving dynamics of the latter are much worse on these speeds. I did drive a Karoq owned by my friend & it was much superior handler.

Kushaq 1.0 smokes Nexon and Brezza easily (personal experience), not sure about XUV 300 GDI.

But, the Kylaq will be lighter than Kushaq, so most probably, it might be the quickest in the segment.

In Brazil, there is no law that limits the length of vehicles in order to obtain tax benefits, as in India. It is almost certain that the Brazilian model is just over 4 meters long.
