Hope it's just in the Test mule and not the final design, but I'd prefer to have the Orange and Red hues on the taillight to be continuous, instead of the Horizontal Red extending/breaking the Orange light.

As for the name, Kosmiq sounds good. But not sure if it would be apt for a Compact SUV. Maybe the name can make people feel the car to be airy and spacious on the inside.

SKODA KYLAQ is the name of the upcoming compact SUV.

Derived from the Sanskrit word, meaning Crystal.

Škoda Kylaq, the ‘SUV for you’, was specifically developed for India by teams in India and the Czech Republic with an eye on versatility, safety, dynamics while focusing on localisation, low maintenance costs and a hassle-free ownership experience. Based on a larger car platform, the compact SUV will have the ‘big car’ feel within the 4-metre footprint.

Škoda Kylaq will be the company’s first implementation of the Modern Solid design language in India. It also feature a hexagon pattern on the side and rear of the car and add details like refined and precise DRL light signatures. The Kylaq has a high ground clearance and space around the wheel for tackling uneven road surfaces lending the car that SUV character.

Škoda aims to leverage excise benefits and pass on the savings to customers, making the Kylaq more competitively priced in the range of Rs 8 lakh to Rs 15 lakh.

Sanskrit for crystal would be स्फटिक (sfatik); doesn't really ryhme with this, is there any other word?

Looks like 6 months long Skoda's naming ceremony has come to an end. And I didn't like this name very much at this point, hope it will catch up and bring lots of success to Skoda/Vw group in India. Given the history of Skoda, I'm assuming that this will sit between Punch and Nexon. Honestly, its a sweet spot with fierce competition. Hope, Skoda/Vw put their 100% efforts in bringing well sorted out product that do not have any initial niggles like EPC issues etc.

How does one pronounce it Kailaq or Kilaq or Kaylaq or Kelaq ?

Keeping names aside, hopefully Skoda has ironed out all the known issues from Kushaq platform, list-

• Air Conditioning : its India a tropical country not EU
• Brake noise
• Buggy window up down
• Creaking noise and some more.

But you really have to give the marketing team a shoutout, they have managed to keep folks engaged for nearly 6 months just on a name! But as they say whats in the name. Initially when Creta was launched many said that its a ugly name and rest is history. Similar is true for Baleno which was reincarnated as a hatchback. Its the end product that matters.

Ps, I had voted for Kyroq, but KYLAQ also sounds premium.

I'd voted for Kliq, as it sounds good and for a Sub-Compact SUV it is a short name, but nevertheless they chose "Kylaq".

I enjoyed the teaser with the vehicle's silhouette. The voice over artist sounds like Kabir Bedi, Octopussy(1983) was next thing in mind.
With tax benefits I hope they can price it well.

Possible names could be Tera, Therion and Hera as they are registered with the National Institute of Industrial Property (INPI)

Pronounced Kai-lack.

I think after the Skoda Laura , the brand is now careful with the naming and by using Sanskrit words, they are emphasising the importance being given to the India market. I really wish they take the same effort while designing components, such as fuel filters, fuel pumps, and air conditioning which should also adapted to the Indian conditions.

If Skoda launches anything smaller than this then I would recommend the name Kerelac derived from Cerelac.

Škoda Kylaq in action!

Built on the MQB-A0-IN platform, it may feature front doors similar to the Kushaq, but with shorter rear doors. The SUV is also anticipated to have high ground clearance and distinct fender shapes.
The Kylaq's interior is expected to be well-equipped, possibly incorporating the same 10.25-inch infotainment system found in the Kushaq, with support for Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Higher trims are likely to offer features such as automatic climate control, wireless charging, ventilated seats, and a sunroof. (single pane)
