Same here, I too suggested Kayaq, dint get any response. Guess many people suggested the same name.

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

On a lighter note, suggesting the name "Kayko" ( But Why?) in Mumbaiyya Slang.

To express the futility of launching a compact SUV below Kushaq, when Kushaq is struggling because of smaller size perception compared to Korean twins.

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

While we are not likely to get the VW Compact SUV, Brazil will have the VW's sibling to the Skoda's Indian Compact SUV.

Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025-screenshot-20240426-120734.png

Three patented names for the VW's SUV in Brazil are Tera, Therion and Hera.

Quote:
The SUV will be larger than the Skoda's counterpart and would have a wheelbase of 2.57 meters with Nivus and Polo, will have a look of its own. Bumpers, grille, headlights and hood will be unprecedented, for example. It is expected to look more like the new generation European Tiguan.
In all, it will be about 4.10 meters long, more than 1.75 m wide and almost 1.60 m high.
Quote:
the A0 SUV will not have a hybrid option. Initially, the project will come with the 1.0 TSI turboflex three-cylinder engine, which already equips the Polo. It is expected to arrive in two calibrations. In the entry-level category, TSI, with 109 hp of power with gasoline and 116 hp with ethanol. Torque is 16.8 kgfm, combined with a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission.

The second option will be with the 200 TSI configuration, more powerful, and which equips Virtus and Nivus in the national portfolio. So, it's 116 hp (G) and 128 hp (E). Completing the data is 20.4 kgfm of torque. But in this case, the set is always linked to the six-speed automatic transmission.

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

There was online contest for suggesting the name of coming small SUV of Skoda. Where first letter K and last letter Q was fix. I have participated in it and suggested name KLAVOQ, keeping in mind two things; KLAVOQ includes words CLEVER & SLAVIA both. But it seems it is not selected in final list.

Sounds like the K serials from Ekta Kapoor in the good old days.

Kyunki.... KARMIQ bhi kabhi KOSMIQ thi
Kahaani KLIQ KAIQ ki
Kasauti KYROQ kay

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

I had suggested the name Karmiq in the contest. It reminded me of their global models Kamiq as well as was related to the the word Karma. However I've not recieved any mail from Skoda stating that it had been nominated among the top 10 names. Seems like many had the same thought process as mine Let's see which name is given to the car ultimately. On a note it's good that they're actually conducting a naming contest. They will not make the blunder they had with the name Laura to differentiate it from the Octavia

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

SUV testing on roads show some fresh details,

Quote:
Skoda compact SUV will have a shorter wheelbase of 2,566mm
Will be powered by the 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine
To be launched by March 2025

Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025-skoda-compact-suv-rear-door.001.jpeg

These new spy images gives a clear look at the rear quarter of the SUV, which appears to have a slightly shorter rear door on account of the wheelbase being 85mm shorter than the Kushaq. The rear quarter glass area is also slightly different on the compact SUV, and Skoda also seems to have reduced the front and rear overhangs to make it slip under the sub-4m mark.

Quote:
expect a familiar Skoda design language with a split headlamp setup, a butterfly grille and clean surfaces. Interestingly though, the compact SUV will not be sharing any body panels with the Kushaq as Skoda will be re-profiling the sheet metal without any stylistic creases or folds to reduce costs. Still, it could look like a shrunken Kushaq as Skoda will be aiming for a family look.

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

With sane pricing, this would be a great product. A powerful turbo petrol engine with a good TC automatic. Only the new xuv3xo has it.

We know the platform is same, so it's safe. The engine is familiar, so there's good performance on offer. VW should get the reliability aspect in check. This would rake in good numbers. Good sales numbers are needed for brand loyalty. Hope VW understands that.

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

Hope they offer this car with a mid spec automatic variant with 6 airbags and essential safety kit, just under 10 lakhs. It can really disrupt the market. The average nuclear urban middle class family needs an affordable, safe, small car with high ground clearance and an AT to navigate the increasingly mad traffic and congestion in our cities, with roads filled with crater like potholes and massive unscientific speedbreakers. Most manufacturers of compact SUVs today are keeping their AT and essential safety features like 6 airbags, out of reach of people on budget by restricting these must-haves to stratospherically priced top variants. It would force makers like Hyundai/Kia to bring down the pricing of Venue/Sonet to sane levels and start taking safety seriously for their Indian customers.

This is the biggest concern of VAG cars in India. There started their India journey from ~ 2007.
How many more years do they need to get the reliability factor in check?

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

I am looking forward to this car to replace my Polo [ 8+ year old]. It does look clean and sober design, 1.0 L with a TC sure will be as peppy as it is in current Kushaq for the city usage !!

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

Any chance Skoda will plonk the 1.5 TSI in this car or will the taxes be too big for them to price it well? Could be a fun little thing with 150 bhp!

Absolutely no chance of seeing 1.5 TSI in this car. Entire purpose of launching this car is to take benefit of sub 4mtr taxation, plonking a 1500cc engine will negate that advantage.

Re: Skoda to launch a Compact SUV in 2025

Mahindra has just raised the bar with 3XO launch. Nexon, the leader in the segment is now going to add panoramic sunroof in an already impressive list of features. Brezza has its mild hybrid tech & Maruti's sales & service to back it up while Venue & Sonet are competent products with diesel as well in offering.

In such a highly contested segment, Skoda is going to have an uphill task to carve its niche considering they have just 1 engine option & never provide any segment leading features.

Since driving dynamics is not a big criteria for an average buyer (reviews tell that 3XO has an edge here as well), they will have to undercut the competition in pricing else it will be dead on arrival.

I think VW may have sensed this hence it may be the reason that they aren't collaborating in this project.
